Ok, I've got a question, & I know it may sound silly, but, how do I get my character to use the Daystar without having the Party Al On, turned on? I tried it earlier, & he was stunned by Tanova, & if I turn it off, he stands there for a couple of seconds before he acted & then was dominated by Tanova. I also had him cast Draw Upon Holy Might in order to help keep him from being hit.
I'm having Edwin use Minor Globe of Invulnerability & casting fireball right off to gain control of the situation, & have him using grease too, but, it seems that Tanova is able to get past it. How come? I'm also having Jaheira cast Chaotic Commands, but, she's taking too long too. Is this a glitch or is it normal?
BTW, while I think about it, why aren't Yoshimo's Arrows +2 killing Tanova?
Thanks so much in advance for any help you can give me, as well as insight to something I might be overlooking!

LA- some tricks that might be fun. Try to go in against Tanova, your PC with Daystar, invisible. Tanova shouldn't react to you. Cast Sunray. She usually gets off a few contingincies, but no spells. The sunray should wipe her out.
Always cast chaotic commands before combat, if you can.
If you have the option, dual wield daystar and Adjatha the Drinker- the longsword from the graveyard. It makes you immune to domination and you can still cast sunray. Flameblade, from the druid grove, also works well here for cutting down undead.
Cast negative plane protection before battle, but only if you don't have some other protection from level drain.
Read the strategy section for more tips on battling vampires. Hope some of this helps.

You may go out an look for an inn, there would be minor changes after you return, there is no need neither it is possible to do all at once.Originally posted by LA GemDrgnBabe:
But, where do I find the Ilitium?
My character does have the Celestial Fury, but, it doesn't work on certain monsters.
.....
Jaheira isn't using fire elemental or chaos, I have to have her sleep on it), such as strategy in positioning my characters, I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance for any & all help you can give me!!!
And, if your party is low enough and you even do not have spells what harm that vampire's magical defenses, you can try summoned pets and skeletons and wait that vampmage running out of spells. If you have bought a scroll or two of protection from undead, things are easy then. This is only vampire using spells here, at least for me, so with prot.from undead your fighter can do them with only left Bodhi is special case, though, have her movement restricted, she is to kill instead of fight.
As for ilithium - you have to get the quest from Helm first. And to get the metal with low level party would be even harder than to kill vampire , there might be undead involved, too .

Wow! You are just loaded with troubles in this game aren't you! Try slowing down, taking your time, and paying attention to everything that is around you. Listen to all comments(actually read the red text) and talk to everyone.
The game is meant for you to explore....not to zip through to the very end as fast as possible. I guarantee that this is the reason for your troubles(or you purchased a defective game).

Vampires are particularly susceptible to some clerical/druidic spells. While mage attack spells are fine, they just won't pack the punch that False Dawn (6th level, Cleric list) does.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Ok, I've got a question. How come when I used Sunray against Tanova, it didn't work? I've been back through it several times, & am still unable to kill them!
Another thing, I went back to the Slums, & talked to someone there & was finally able to get into the secret rooms, free the prisoners, kill the animals, & am now on another quest trying to free the child slaves. (All this because I was trying to sell some items at the slums & find a place to sleep to recover from trying to kill vampires)
I found the sewers under the Copper Coronet, & found a hand in a pool in one of the sewer areas that was immediately to my right after we entered the sewers. Am I supposed to do anything with this hand? Is it a wizards hand or does it belong to a genie or can I just ditch it?
I've killed most of the Hobgoblins & came across some Kobolds in the sewers too, who told us to beat it or they'd kill us, so we got out of there & ended up finding another passage way to the right as we were going back the way we came. (it's the one next to the skeleton's on the wall, whose ring I got off the female skeleton) & it took us to an underground area? Anyway, this wierd looking monster came out that had something like a red mushroom on his head? He's hard to kill too. Any ideas, suggestions, cards & letters? Any help or insight anyone can give me is most welcome!!!
P.S. I'm still confused as to why Sunray didn't work on the vampires? It's so wierd & we have yet to find anyone that's got False Dawn to sell us or kill someone for. Any insight as to how & where we may get it is greatly appreciated!!!

1/2 Spoiler follows

First the hand. You should find some more items and one quest in those severs The reward is a sword - not supermighty, though very useful. The quest here is somehow falling out of the common style, for one thing you might get know about it even after all or almost all items are collected, and it is not "go and meet" or "find and kill" one, some brain (or spoiler) is needed
As for mushrooms, it is sidestep, only a bit of surprise + exp. and to make you know that such exists (you should meet more powerful ones later in the game). You may skip them if you wish.
False dawn you cannot have with low level party, it is cleric spell of level 6 (see manual about what level a cleric must reach to have at least one) . It should help you fight liches and vampires afterwards, but it is not supposed to be necessary at first visit to Bodhi.
BTW, IMHO there is a difference how Sunray is cast and how it is brought by Daystar. At least there is nothing special for undead in the spell description, if i'm not wrong.
Common note For my experience the main points to play such games is patience and caution And the first three rules are scout, scout, scout... You should know your next area and foe beforehand and be prepared, do not save on it

Loredweller, I already found the guy that they're talking about with a worm creature? I can't remember the name of it right now, but, I talked to him & had already found the hand before he even told me about it. I also even found the ring before it was even mentioned when I went into the room where the pipes are. My character started freaking out because, he kept hearing the words that the man spoke, & it was making him feel like he was losing it. Anyhow, I found the key, & have yet to find the last item, but, am unsure what order to unlock the pipes?
Another thing, about Sunray and the Daystar, I'm still kind of confused why it's not working, or maybe I'm just not using them in conjunction with each other? But, how can I use them both at the same time, if 1) I'm as close as I can get to the vampires to use Sunray, & not close enough to strike with the Daystar? I read the manual, but, can't find anything in reference to how it should be used. BTW, my character just went up a level & is now a level 10 Paladin. I'm not sure if being a high enough level has anything to do with it. My cleric, Jaheira, is also a level 9 cleric. Isn't she high enough to be able to use False Dawn? Or is it Anomen that's supposed to use it? If so, he's at level 9. Any tips, suggestions, cards & letters are very much appreciated!!! Thanks in advance for all your help!!!
