Any way to get rid of the Autosave feature?

If so, it would halve the time it takes to load a party-required area. Over the course of a year, it'd probably redeem a week's worth of my time.

Gosh darnit, there's gotta be someone out there who knows the answer. I finding the autosave feature to be more hindrance than help.

Indeed. I would just prefer a random autosave every 45 minutes or so over one that happens every friggin' time I go into a tavern. Cheers.

I disagree. When leaving an area it could be very useful. Although with taverns it does get a bit annoying.

It's potentially useful as a backup save, provided you don't already keep your own secondary save slot. Which, of course, I do. :D Cutting out AutoSaves would shave off more than half the time it takes to load party-required areas--load times are quite speedy on my 'puter, but the save games take four or five seconds a piece, particularly later in the game when it stores more and more information. I'd really like to be rid of them.

If you do turn off the autosaves, be sure to post it on here when you screw up and wish that you wouldn't have been so damn picky.

Some of us, present company included, have been playing BG2 for over a year now and, barring the occasional computer crash, revert to the autosaved game only after sudden death or petrification. I'm with with Trinal on this - the game should kick in an autosave every 45 minutes or so. I getting tired of staring at that flaming skull.

I think I'll mosey on down to the Black Isle and Bioware boards and find out what Dave Gaider and Kevin D. have to say about this.
