yes yes yes a fellow nirvana fan.. I dont really respect Cobain though... You know what's ironic? He said its better to burn out than fade away... And he melted his brain from drugs... so, he's a burnout, so, therefore, he did burnout. har har i can see the critiscm now...

Yes,he did burn out...yet he can never fade away.I still see little Kids 7 and 8 year olds buying there CDs,Kurt Cobain posters and patches.Even though he killed himself I think He really acheived what he ment to do(Besides dieing)...Never to fade away.

There's still controversey (hope I spelled that right) over whether he did kill himself or not. I personally, think he didn't, and that it was his girlfriend. :(

that's funny... Half the oddities in my class have never heard of Nirvana... Not that I'm 7 or 8... It's all that pop music crap melting their brains. :p

I also think that Kurt didn't kill himself.I've seen his "suicide" note and in the end it writes "I love you courtney I love you"Yet it looks nothing like the Handwriting in the rest of the note....Damn you Courtney Love !!!!

Oh and I'm not to much of a misfit, only when compared to all the preps and jocks that are taking over but I fit in pretty well among my own kind. The word "misfit" in my user name came from the band Misfits....one of the only good punk bands.I hate what the Kids are considering punk today,Good Charlotte and such.I'm not a punk but I do know what bands are punk and pop.Stupid pop.....

In light of recent events...

Some people say that I’m a bad guy
They may be right, they may be right
But it’s not as if I don’t try
I just **** up, try as I might

But I can change, I can change
I can learn to keep my promises I swear it
I’ll open up my heart, and I will share it
Any minute now I will be born again
Yes, I can change, I can change
I know that I’ve been a dirty little bastard
I like to kill, I like to mate, I like to sing
But it’s okay cuz I can change

See it not my fault that I’m so evil
It’s society, society
You see my parents were sometimes abusive
And it made, a prick of me

But I can change I can change
I can learn to keep my promises I know it
I’ll open up my heart, and I will show it
Any minute now I will be born again
Satan: But what if you never change
What if you remain a sandy little butthole
Suddam: Hey Satan
Don’t be such a twit Mother Theresa won’t have **** on me
Just watch, just watch me change
Here I go I’m changing

Ahhh
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ahhh

(Whistling the tune)

Life would be wonderful
Life would be wonderful

If I was a little taller
If I was not quite so old
If my raincoat had a collar
To help me keep away the cold

If my little mouse named Norman
Was still alive inside the sock
He used to keep himself so cozy
Inside his little cardboard box

Life would be wonderful
Life would be wonderful

If I had a nice location
To sit where people passing by
Looked like they were on vacation
And helped me buy some pecan pie

Life would be wonderful
Life would be wonderful

If I could afford a breakfast
Of bacon, toast and scrambled eggs
If I hadn't been so reckless
When I lost my other leg

If there was an open doorway
Where I could be warm and dry
And visit with some memories
I made once upon a time

Life would be wonderful
While others climb the mountains High, beneath the tree I love to lie
And watch the snails go whizzing by, It's foolish but it's fun

The Offspring's new album is out - yay! :) So far, this is my favorite track: The Noose.

Well our souls are all mistaken in the same misguided way
We all end up forsaken, we're just choosing our own way
The future now incinerates before our very eyes
And leaves us with emptiness of no more tries

Well our visions of glory have spiraled down the drain
The best of our intentions come crashing down in flames
The depths of our despair we are unable to contain
It's shallow living

The noose is falling
And all my friends are crawling
The noose is falling
And enemies are rising
A truth appalling
Our mak'r comes a calling
The noose is falling
And enemies are rising

Well the tracers from yesteryear are burning in the dust
Your bruises are reminders of naivete and trust
You're only feeling stronger cause your body's getting numb
Now I lay you down
Put the coins in your eyes
And blow the candles out

The noose is falling
And all my friends are crawling
The noose is falling
And enemies are rising
A truth appalling
Our mak'r comes a calling
The noose is falling
And enemies are rising

No more!
No more!
Nothing!

No more!
No more!
Ever!
No!
More!

A discussion in another thread brought up the subject of subjectivity of good and evil. Here's a little story about Johnny. Do you think Johnny is evil? Does he deserve to "fry?" Is he responsible for his actions? Or are "we?" ;)

Johnny was bad, even as a child everybody could tell
Everyone said if you don’t get straight
You’ll surely go to hell

But johnny didn’t care
He was an outlaw by the time that he was
Ten years old
He didn’t wanna do what he was told
Just a prankster, juvenile gangster

His teachers didn’t understand
They kicked him out of school
At a tender early age
Just because he didn’t want to learn things
(had other interests)
He liked to burn things

The lady down the block
She had a radio that johnny wanted oh so bad
So he took it the first chance he had
Then he shot her in the leg
And this is what she said
Only a lad
You really can’t blame him
Only a lad
Society made him
Only a lad
He’s our responsibility
Only a lad
He really couldn’t help it
Only a lad
He didn’t want to do it
Only a lad
He’s underprivileged and abused
Perhaps a little bit confused

His parents gave up they couldn’t influence his attitude
Nobody could help
The little man had no gratitude

And when he stole the car
Nobody dreamed that he would
Try to take it so far
He didn’t mean to hit the poor man
Who had to go and die
It made the judge cry

Only a lad
He really couldn’t help it
Only a lad
He didn’t want to do it
Only a lad
He’s underprivileged and abused
Perhaps a little bit confused

It’s not his fault that he can’t believe
It’s not his fault that he can’t behave
Society made him go astray
Perhaps if we’re nice he’ll go away
Perhaps he’ll go away
He’ll go away

(repeat chorus)

Hey there johnny you really don’t fool me
You get away with murder
And you think it’s funny
You don’t give a damn if we live or if we die
Hey there johnny boy
I hope you fry!

@Lazerus, I don't think Johny deserves to fry.. but then again I don't believe anyone deserves that (yeah, yeah I know, typical bleeding heart ;) ) But I do believe he should be forced to deal with the implications of his actions, perhaps through some sort of community service that directly relates to the wrongs he has committed. I'm not sure there is an easy answer, but maybe this is best discussed in the Good & Evil thread, possibly even post these lyrics in the there, because they lay a provocative basis for discussion. :)

I Envy The Wind

I envy the wind
That whispers in your ear
That howls through the winter
That freezes your fingers
That moves through your hair
And cracks your lips
And chills you to the bone
I envy the wind

I envy the rain
That falls on your face
That wets your eyelashes
And dampens your skin
And touches your tongue
And soaks through your shirt
And drips down your back
I envy the rain

I envy the sun
That brightens your summer
That warms your body
And holds you in her heat
And makes your days longer
And makes you hot
And makes you sweat
I envy the sun
I envy the wind, I envy the rain, I envy the sun, I envy the wind

@dragon wench: despite what you may think from the previous post, I have no set opinion on the death penalty. I think arguments can be made both ways, and I haven't studied the subject enough to make a final choice pro or con. But the story of Johnny is about responsibility and consequences, and I think it makes it's point well with that last shout from Danny Elfman (I hope you fry!).

Anyhoo! As long as we're talkin' justice, check out Offspring's "Walla Walla." Dexter Holland is such a hoot! :)

Goodbye my friend, you've messed up again
You're going to prison, you're off to the pen
You've gotten off easy so many times
But I guess no one told you how to get a life

The judge wasn't lenient like he was before
You got three to five and a kick out the door
The public defender really did try
Too little, too late, you didn't get a life

Hey, in Walla
I'll see you in Walla Walla
Slap on the wrist? Well, not this time
Hey, in Walla
I'll see you in Walla Walla
Folsom prison is the destination
Hey, in Walla
I'll see you in Walla Walla
Slap on the wrist? Well, not this time
In the scheme of life, we're all just brothers
Rehabilitate with all the others
Well, I'll see ya

That car looked so tempting, so easy to drive
Just like that apartment that you burglarized
You started to run, but didn't get far
Cause under your arm was a VCR

Ho ho, not this time my friend
You'll be in lockdown by ten
I'm afraid you can't talk your way out of this one, son
Now four walls are your 24-hour-a-day, constant companions.

Hey, in Walla
I'll see you in Walla Walla
Slap on the wrist? Well, not this time
Hey, in Walla
I'll see you in Walla Walla
Folsom prison is the destination
Hey, in Walla
I'll see you in Walla Walla
Slap on the wrist? Well, not this time
In the scheme of life, we're all just brothers
Rehabilitate with all the others
Well, I'll see ya

Have a nice life!

Radiohead - Fitter Happier

Fitter Happier
more productive
comfortable
not drinking too much
regular exercise at the gym (3 days a week)
getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries
at ease
eating well (no more microwave dinners and saturated fats)
a patient better driver
a safer car (baby smiling in back seat)
sleeping well (no bad dreams)
no paranoia
careful to all animals (never washing spiders down the plughole)
keep in contact with old friends (enjoy a drink now and then)
will frequently check credit at (moral) bank (hole in wall)
favours for favours
fond but not in love
charity standing orders
on sundays ring road supermarket
(no killing moths or putting boiling water on the ants)
car wash (also on sundays)
no longer afraid of the dark
or midday shadows
nothing so ridiculously teenage and desperate
nothing so childish
at a better pace
slower and more calculated
no chance of escape
now self-employed
concerned (but powerless)
an empowered and informed member of society (pragmatism not idealism)
will not cry in public
less chance of illness
tires that grip in the wet (shot of baby strapped in back seat)
a good memory
still cries at a good film
still kisses with saliva
no longer empty and frantic
like a cat
tied to a stick
that's driven into
frozen winter **** (the ability to laugh at weakness)
calm
fitter, healthier and more productive
a pig
in a cage
on antibiotics

Comfortably Numb
Roger Waters, David Gilmour

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?
Come on, now,
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I'll need some information first.
Just the basic facts.
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

O.K.
Just a little pinprick.
There'll be no more aaaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good.
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

Wish You Were Here

So...so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground. What have you found? The same old fears.

Wish you were here.

my favorite lyrics is actually a Dutch one, but I won't bother you guys with it (or will I? no, better not)

So here's one I love...it's classic:

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one
Broken promises
"They made us many promises,
more than I can remember.
But they kept but one -
They promised to take our land...
and they took it"

Dead Prez - Animal in Man

*Two Guys Talking*
(Guy 1)
Help me!
(Guy 2)
You want me to help you?
Man is evil, capable of nothing but destruction

(Narrator)
Once upon a time
There was a very serious situation growing
There was a farmer and a farmyard filled with animals
And this is the story of their times

Verse 1
Old man Sammy had a farm
Walked the land with the wife
Most of the time **** was calm
His whole life was maintained off the everyday labor
from the mules in the field to the cattle in the stable
This is how we kept food on this table (maxing)
You would have he was disabled by the way he be relaxing
Acting like Mr. Magnificent
But the animals were thinking something different
The sentiment was tension in the barnyard
Throughout the years they had been through mad drama
with the farmer, word is bond
And they all came to one conclusion
They argued there was no way they'd ever be free
If it was up to humans
Therefore the only course left was revolution which was understandable
And since the pigs promised to lead in the interest of all the animals
They planned a full attack
Under the leadership of Hannibal
The fattest pig in the pack
The next morning on the farm
Everything was calm
Just before dawn
But before long
The sun got so hot it made the farm seem electric
Now check it
This is when that **** got hectic
Directed by Hannibal, the animals attacked
Old Sam was in a state of shock
And fell up on his back
And dropped his rifle
Reaching in vain
Each and every creature from the field at his throat
Screaming "Kill, feel the pain."

Chorus
This is the animal in man
This is the animal in you
This is the animal in man
Coming true (2X)

Verse 2
After they ran the farmer off the farm
The pigs went around and called a meeting in the barn
Hannibal spoke for several hours
But when talks about his plans for power
That's when the conversation turned sour
He issued an offical ordinance to set
If not a pig from this day forth then you insubordinate
That's when the horses went buckwild
One of them shouted out
"You fraudulent pigs, we know your ****ing style!"
Hannibal's face was flushed and pale
All the animals eyes full of disgust and betrayal
He felt the same way Sam felt
They took his tongue out of his mouth
And cut his body up for sale, for real
You better listen while you can
Its a very thin line between animal and man
When Hannibal crossed the line they all took a stand
What would have you done?
Shook his hand?
This is the animal in man

Chorus (4X)

Narrator
Remember...
"Some people say that I must be a terrible person, but it’s not true. I have the heart of a young boy in a jar on my desk."

Fade to Black
Metallica

Life it seems will fade away,
Drifting further every day.
Getting lost within myself,
Nothing matters, no one else.
I have lost the will to live,
Simply nothing more to give.
There is nothing more for me,
Need the end to set me free.

Things not what they used to be...
Missing one inside of me.
Deathly lost, this can't be real,
Can't stand the hell I feel.
Emptiness is filling me,
To the point of agony.
Growing darkness taking dawn,
I was me...but now he's gone.

No one but me can save myself, but it's too late...
Now I can't think...think why I should even try.
Yesterday seems as though it never existed.
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye.

Falling off the Edge of the World/Over and Over
Ronnie James Dio

I think about closing the door
And lately I think of it more
I'm living well out of my time
I feel like I'm losin' my mind

I should be at the table round
A servant of the crown
The keeper of the sign
To sparkle and to shine

Never, no never again
Listen to me and believe what I say if you can
Never, this is the end
You know I've seen the faces of doom and I'm only a man
Help me, tell me I'm sane
I feel a change in the earth, in the wind and the rain
Save me, oh take me away
You know I've seen some demons from Hell and I've heard what they say.

I've got to be strong,
Oh, I'm falling off the edge of the world...
Think you're safe but you're wrong;
We are falling off the edge of the world.

Look out there's danger, no where to run...
Seems like desperate measures but sometimes its got to be done.
Over, its over at last
And the message inside as we build a new life from the past...

We're falling off the edge of the world
Yes, the edge of the world
It's the end of the world...

Sometimes I feel like I'm dyin' at dawn
And sometimes I'm warm as fire
But lately I feel like I'm just gonna rain
And it goes over and over, and over again, yeah.

Too many flames, with too much to burn
And life's only made of paper.
Oh how I need to be free of this pain,
Watch it goes over and over, and over and over again...

Sometimes I cry for the lost and alone
And for their dreams that will all be ashes
But lately I feel like I'm just gonna rain,
And it goes over and over, and over and over again.

Whoah - Chanak - what's up with the gloomy lyrics (and downer sig)? :( Relax, man. Life is sweet.

Sarah McLachlan is one of my favorites. She has special meaning for me in that her lyrics so often capture the feelings and thoughts I have for my loved one. :) And she (my loved one, that is) also loves Sarah's music. So, Cozette, do you remember sending me this song?

it doesn't mean much
it doesn't mean anything at all
the life I've left behind me
is a cold room
I've crossed the last line
from where I can't return
where every step I took in faith
betrayed me
and led me from my home

and sweet
sweet surrender
is all that I have to give

you take me in
no questions asked
you strip away the ugliness
that surrounds me
are you an angel
am I already that gone
I only hope
that I won't disappoint you
when I'm down here
on my knees

and sweet
sweet
sweet surrender
is all that I have to give

sweet
sweet
sweet surrender
is all that I have to give

and I don't understand
by the touch of your hand
I would be the one to fall

I miss the little things
oh I miss everything

it doesn't mean much
it doesn't mean anything at all
the life I left behind me
is a cold room

Peace.

You sent me this one, too, but I think I should be sending it back. ;)

I've tried so hard my dear to show
That you're my every dream
Yet you're afraid each thing I do
Is just some evil scheme

A memory from your lonesome past
Keeps us so far apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

Another love before my time
Made your heart sad an' blue
And so my heart is paying now
For things I didn't do

In anger unkind words are said
That make the teardrops start
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

There was a time when I believed
That you belonged to me
But now I know your heart is shackled
To a memory

The more I learn to care for you
The more we drift apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart
There will be no Renaissance without Revolution.
