Great Stratgey for taking down wizards

Post by Elemental ZOOT »

Make a party
Consisting
Of
2 Archers
2 Fighters
1 Thief/Mage
1 Fighter/Druid /Fighter/Cleric

Having 2 Archers CAN disrupt the mage's spell casting
The 2 fighters deal with the front liners
The Thief/Mage summons monsters
The F/d, F/C can also attack from range and as a supporting frontliner

Archers are generally
Coran
Kivan
Khalid

the 2 fighters are good as
Kagain
Minsc

Thief/Mage=
Imoen

F/D or F/C can be
Jaheira
Yeslick

or full class cleric
Branwen
Vicionia

That's a GREAT *cough* strategy if you wanna take down wizards hehe.... or you can just pick Viconia, let the wizard waste his/her spells and then kick the **** out of him with any of your characters :P
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

all you really need is two sets of magic missiles hitting...after that, it's pretty much over...

Well..

A relatively strong mage like Daevoron needs more than magic missile X 2. But a pet wave will pretty much exhaust his spells. Pet waves are so nice in BG, and you can even do them in BGII once you have Project Image..
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

Davaeorn sucks.. Well if you manage to dodge the first lightning bolt he just keeps casting dimension doors.. Just shoot him with missiles and he's down.

Ok..

Well pick someone else then, pet waves serve well for a LOT of things in BG, and, once you have a way around the 5 summon limit, in BGII

Or you can just launch a disruptive magic missile or two, in that way you cancel his protection spells. If that fails, cast several dispel magic and just whop his *** with your fighters!
You guys are my best friends, we've always been together, we're four of a kind laughing all day and palling away, we're best friends!

Hide in shadows and backstab him after his protection spells are over (mirror image). I've done that a lot of times. Sent some kobolds to distract him, they're dead, send another two, they're dead. Then hide in shadows and kill him in a single hit.
Flesh to stone ain't permanent, it seems.

I dealt with the two mages outside the Cloakwood mines last night, this is how I dealt with them: I started by backstabbing one of them, which killed him. (one down). Then I ran into the building nearby to avoid the spell from the other. Then I hid in the shadows, and came back outside and backstabed the other one. Toast. End of story.

I've finished the game multiple times but I have never used backstabbing, it just seems so lame.

Btw if you wanna take down those guys outside the mines you could use fireball/stinking cloud/cloudkill or direcharm one of the fighters :)
