Sorceror Problem
Hey guys, got a problem when I level up my Sorceror. Im being told now that she is unable to cast higher level spells as they are outwith her ability. At first this wasnt a concern because I thought she'd catch up and be able to cast them (or I'd get a chance to improve her wisdom), but now I've got about 5 powerful spells I cant use, I dont think I can make her intelligence or wisdom much higher and she doesnt wear armour, I cant recall ever having this problem before, any ideas????
Right - to expand on this - As a sorcerer you need to have a high enough charisma to cast higher level spells. Socerers and Bards use charisma, Wizards use intelligence, and Clerics and Druids use Wisdom to determine the highest level of spell they can cast:
To cast 7th level spells you need a 17 charisma,
To cast 8th level spells you need a 18 charisma,
etc.
- this charisma score is the unmodified score as well - so item ability score enhancements don't count. You would usually want to start a sorcerer with at least a 15 charisma. That way with ability bonus at level 4, 8, 12, 16 - you would have a 19 charisma by level 16 in time to cast level 9 spells.
These rules are different than you may be used to in 2nd edition D&D based games like Baldurs Gate. Icewind Dale 2 uses D&D 3rd edition rules which are much different. I would recommend a good long read of your manual and/or browsing this forum for character creation threads.
