Kuroisan (spoilers for Tactics mod)
Hello guys,
I'm not a very good Tactics player, but this time I saw something strange.
After I grabbed the Celestial Fury, I was atacked by the acid ninja (nastier enemy, IMO). He is searching for the blade, blah blah blah, and I've saved the game for tactic tuning against him. First I've charged all I've got, then I've protected myself from acid, then I've sent one fighter each time with mages destroying his protection spells. But when I tried a hit and run tactic (with ctrl j help) he disappeared and I cant find him.
That way I cant have his sword...
Is this normal or just cause I've been on the Temple district, or cause I'm just blind to the truth that he is hiding somewhere else???

Flesh to stone ain't permanent, it seems.
He's sneaky.
Kuroisan will despawn if left unengaged for too long. He will, however, return later to try again. He's got a pretty cool script, but he can be killed without unreasonable cheese - of course, figuring out cheesy ways to kill him is a lot of fun itself.

I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

For some reason, I got him without a scratch in my last game. Strategy:
1) Invisibility potions for everyone, frequently drunk;
2) Thief dispelling his illusion;
3) PfMW (several) on one character (preferably fighter-mage);
4) Protection from Acid (not vital);
5) Globe of Invulnerability (nice, not vital);
6) Hasted fighters to quickly smack him when his PfMW runs out (timing is key!).
I actually didn't run like crazy this time, but he didn't cast True Sight for some reason...

Re: He's sneaky.
And what a script... a challenge to defeat his cheese...
I wonder if Sarevok or perhaps some other fighters could have similar scripts...

that's all you need, and best of all, you don't have to do a thing, just stand there...
Brilliant tactic User...but wouldn't that only work if you're using the pre-ToB cloak of mirroring?

I think Kuroisan is scripted to be really hard for fighters to kill him. But he is a kensai-mage/fighter-mage, right? So in theory can cast true-sight, remove magic, breach and the like (though I haven't seen him do it).
Effectively, conjuration immunity will prevent the acid damage, PfMW will stop his katana and he will die from fire/ice shield damage if he keeps smacking. Great tactic indeed, taking into accound his melee-oriented character.
I wonder why the cloak of mirroring is needed? Will it reflect Acid arrows back at Kuroisan?

Sorry, I meant that Kuro himself is wearing (an undroppable) one. If its the pre ToB version, it acts like a permanent spell turning whereas the post ToB one (with the swirly spell trap animation) acts as a spell deflector, making the wearer immune to all spells. The original one wouldn't defend against fire shield whereas the newer one would. I think.

And in a non-magic user party, what would you do???

It is just me or he is pretty much the worst single opponent on tactics?
Cause, our friend Maevar has lots of thieves by his side, Irenicus has lots of invulnerabilities, Bodhi is undead and fight sided by lots of minions, Kanggy is cheesable and undead, the troll on Nalia's keep has a bit more punch than average, but nothing exceptional, and the rest are all groups...

If I'm not mistaken, she has no divination spells. Improved invis via scroll or some of the other spells... she cant target you... werewolf form... kick it up her guts!!!
- Edit - not imp invis, it is... mislead or something I think... you keep invisible and rock her quick.

Yes...this is imrpoved Faldorn right? The one who starts shapeshifted into a leopard and with a shed-load of buffs? Casts nature's beauty and creeping doom as an opener? And how does a druid cast mislead...please don't say 'potion swap'.
