Try setting your Int to 17. That should do it. Well I had some rather rash comments all written up and ready to post about your marvelous wis and cha scores but I held back this time. That's three times now I've had to curb myself. I need to stop.

That's exactly the response I expected from the likes of you.

I have to admit.. I have always been curious about how people allocate their stats.... I mean I confess.. I can't bring myself to place a stat any lower than ten so I usually spend a fair amount of time rolling... :o

But yes, on topic, Sculd is right, the primary stat of the class you want to dual to must be at least 17 :)

I'm with you Dragonwench. I can never bring myself to putting a stat lower than 10 unless there's a reason, like if i'm playing an exceptionally rude dwarf or some such character. I just can't picture anything at the far south end of the spectrum being humanoidly possible short of extenuating circumstances(ie: frontal lobotomy).

I figure, (if a fighter class) get 18/00 max dex, con, place the rest in charisma, usually i have enough to get arounr 6 int... but I HAVE to have max dex/con... lol don't know why...
EDIT: Instead of Charisma, I had to go int cause I knew I'd duel him.

I'm not gonna try and understand so don't bother trying to explain.

When I created my character in BG1, I knew that I would be playing him for weeks. What's 10-15 minutes spent rolling, compared to the hundreds of hours of benefit I would gain from a little patience at the beginning? The only stat I didn't pay too much attention to was the percentile off of 18 (I think mine was 29). I knew from a friend that there was a tome somewhere, plus there are enough STR-enhancing items in D&D that the goal was to get to 18.

Even if you are only going to "mess around" with a toon for a week, its still worthwhile to spend a few minutes rolling, IMO.

About dual classing... I´m currently a lvl 15 mage but I would like to dual class him at some point. Do you have any suggestions to which class and when should I dual :)

Why would you dual from a mage? You'll never be able to advance again. Normally people dual to a mage from say a fighter or a thief.

you stop gaining spells at level 23, so you could dual there.

a thief or a fighter would be a powerful character. however, if you're going to do a fighter mage dual class, its better to have fighter first for extra HP and proficiencies

If you dual from a mage you can still learn spells from scrolls. Thrain meant that you stop gaining spellslots. ;)

WOW then I should definately dual but to whom? I have always fancied cleric class my self, it would further my studies in the arts of magic, I could give him all the ofencive spells that Viconia rarely uses and gain even more fire power :D :D

Hrrm...

Some popular dual & multi-class combos that work very well - remember you can dual from a kit, but not to one (without third party software) - usually fighter dual combos are from fighter, at level 9, 12 or 13. All dual class combos must be valid multi-class combos, so no Paladin/mages or Monk/Sorcerers (well, without cheating):

Fighter/cleric (most combos)
Fighter/thief
Fighter/mage
Ranger/cleric (quite cheesy - you get ALL divine spells)
Cleric/mage (Cleric spells in triggers, multi really works better, IMAO)
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

I think Cleric/Mages, Cleric/Illusionists in particular would be more powerful than a dual. More spellcasting power from the start than you can shake a stick at. A dumpy little gnome chucking spells non-stop is quite fun. I played on in BG1 as a solo and it was pretty easy.
