J.R.R. Tolkein (If I remember correctly he was from South Africa), if not for him, where would these forums be at all?

In my opinion, the second would have to be Nelson Mandela, who else has come out of prison without any remorse.

Not to be over pedantic, but John Vincent-Atanasoff build the first electronically and digital computer, not the first computer. Who created the first computer is defined by how you define a computer.

Why on earth is that a plus? In his case it is, but people should feel remorse in prison. There are certain things I'll grant Mandela, but not feeling remorse is not an inherent plus.
Marcus Aurelius
Are you from Italy? AFAIK, Marcus Aurelius was a crazy sungodworshipper from Syria who was accidently named Caesar because his family wanted this... He was a cruel man who liked to torture political enemies and he had some weird sexual preferences. S.W. Stevenson, a historicus from the 19th century, called him "...the most cruel and infamous wretch that ever disgraced humanity and polluted a throne..."

Edit: oops..I was wrong :) Apparently there were two Roman emperors named Marcus Aurelius...

Hehe.. I hope the good one came first... That would be a big insult to the second otherwise!

I don't know the guy's name, but this poor Sydneysider had the bright idea of putting mud in jars and selling them at Aus$50 each to rich 4-wheel-drive owners to smear on their vehicles, so it looks like they've been off-roading. He's now apparently quite rich, and to my mind embodies the true Australian qualities of enterprise, of cynicism, and of taking advantage of the rich and gullible. What would you expect from a nation that was founded as a criminal dumping ground?
Never trust an Aussie, especially if he's offering you a taste of something called 'Vegemite'. :D
