Question: Augmentation effects?
Question: Augmentation effects?
I tried a few searches on this forum and couldn't find these answers.
1) Flame & Lightning Augmentations:
How do these work? I haven't applied them yet because I'm not sure how they work and I don't want to waste an augment slot. Do they increase the damage caused by your fire & lightning spells when the augmented weapon is wielded? Or do they increase weapon damage output against specific creatures that are susceptible to those magics (like how silver works against balvarines & undead)? If so, how does one know which creatures are affected by flame & lightning? Or, do they simply add a magic damage bonus to all attacks?
2) Piercing vs. Sharpening Augmentations:
Sharpening directly increases your weapon's damage output, while Piercing decreases effectiveness of enemy armor, which tells me it, too, has the effect of increasing your weapon's damage output. Which increases your damage more?
3) Silver Augmentation:
Besides the original White Balvarine quest augment, I can't seem to find additional silver augments in any town shoppes or on wandering merchants. The ones who have it on their list never have it in stock. Does anyone know of a spot where they are readily available?
4) Lastly, any comments on which augments people find most useful? Health & mana sound pretty worthless with the abundance of food and potions.
Thanks!

i beleive this is the right answer.
as for silver augs they can be found in a chest in the Old Graveyard Path, the arena anteroom, Knothole Glade, and Hook Coast
as for health and mana augs, i really like them although yes you can use potions, having these augs means u use them less and preserve them. just pop em into a weapon u dont use (like if you use melee have them in a ranged weapon)

I found that enemies are much easier to kill with piercing. One example is when I fight a rock troll. I have a master longbow with silver, lightning and piercing (i though those three would all make sense to be found in a bow) and when I used it on a rock troll, the damage counter read 765!

I think lightening works well against Hobbes, and fire against humans and perhaps balverines. It's sort of annoying that they don't specify, or tell you in the description how much more damage the weapon will inflict once equipped with one of these augmentations. The only reason I like mana aug. is that your mana recharges when physical shield is on.

The lightning Aug increase damages to creatures, I supposed Hobbes, Nymphs and Trolls. The fire Aug increases damage to material, like human wearing clothing.
Generally sharpening is better when fighting opponents with no natural or material armour, but since almost every enemy have them I'd prefer Piercing since creatures like trolls have every high physical armour.
-Hope that helped-

No it does not give bonus to anything accept for fighting against creatures weak to it For exsample Fire works fine against hobbes and bandits ( as long as it is not armor they are wearing), Lightning works well against pixis and all these creatures

Both are the same they both work fine, Having ur damage increased By output or damage reduction from armor, it does not make any difference.
I personally always used Piercing,

If my memory does serve me correctly they can be found 3 times in the game, including the quest also they are sold at Hookcoast ( I belive ) there is a merchant ingame that sells all agumentations
4) Lastly, any comments on which augments people find most useful? Health & mana sound pretty worthless with the abundance of food and potions.
The most usefull agumentation i encounterd was EXP agumentation, only to bad they give it so late in the game, almost when u dont need it anymore, Also the piercing agumentation suites best
Thanks!
No Problem
I know i have repeated most already in the Thread, But i hope i still gave some usefull info

also works on ice trolls, summoners...(two worst enemies in the game)Durandal wrote:Fire augments work against the undead, possibly better than the silver. And like Polyphemus said mana augmentations are really nice because your will power regenerates while physical shield is on.
Matt, despite the logic of piercing and shapening doing the same damage, I've tested it out, and against nasty creatures, like minions and rock trolls, piercing does much more damage.
sharpening works better against weak creatures, piercing works on tough creatures.
also the limit of mana augs you can have is eight, not six. (frying pan holds 5)

Thats really doesnt matter if u increase ur output or decrease enemy armor the damage outcome is the same, Even creatures wearing heavy armor will B more easy to defeat, since the piercing is reacting to enemy armor.UserUnfriendly wrote:Matt, despite the logic of piercing and shapening doing the same damage, I've tested it out, and against nasty creatures, like minions and rock trolls, piercing does much more damage.
But for most creatures 90% it will not make any difference(bandits, wasps, balvarines, Ect ),
Outcome will still B the same.. they do the same amount of damage, anyhow

take a master greatsword, go to knothole glade.
save then go to witchwood lake. you will see a rock troll. hit it with a master greatsword with three sharpening augs, then reload and hit with three piercing augs. drastic difference...

As i agreed with u before there is a difference between it but only for 10% of all creatures, Try repeating ur steps only then with an earth troll, U will notice no diffrence at all this includes Balvarines, Wasps, Bandits( Non Armor wearing ), Traders, peasants, Pixis, Hobbes( Non armor wearing ) Even some undeads, Ect.UserUnfriendly wrote: take a master greatsword, go to knothole glade.

Also it matters wich weapon u wield it on, i have experianced that a Piercing agumentation does much more damage on a Bow, otherwise sharpening does less even hitting the same creatures

Really? My frying pan has only four augmentation slots, not five. I found it after getting all of the clues. Is it one of the items that got nerfed in TLC? So the highest number I've seen is seven. (Four in the frying pan and three in the master longbow.)UserUnfriendly wrote:also works on ice trolls, summoners...(two worst enemies in the game)

U can hold 5 agumentations on the frying pan.. SpoilerCrenshinibon wrote:Really? My frying pan has only four augmentation slots, not five. I found it after getting all of the clues. Spoiler
In the weapon menu where u can choose to attach a agumentation or wield a weapon, Add 4 agumentations on the frying pan then add another... Even thoug the menu does not show it u can hold 5....
I would title this as a glitch

Oh no, that's not what I asked.
The frying pan that I have, has four slots filled with mana augmentations, that means that i have already found ALL of the clues and dug up the frying pan.
After you told me of this glitch, I went and tried to insert another augmentation in that frying pan, but I didn't get the "Augment" option.
