What creatures/races are missing from the game?
In response to Patrick's suggestion in my last thread, I figured this was a very good question to ask as well. What creatures and races are missing from Baldur's Gate that should have been included? Which ones are absolutely necessary to making it accurate for the Sword Coast Region of the Forgotten Realms? Personally, I think the abscence of orcs was a huge mistake. Bugbears in the mountains also would have been more accurate. I'm also including smaller, non-hostile creatures in this. There are squirrels and cats and rats some places, but no dogs or deer or elk or rabbits or anything like that. Mixing it up would have been nice. What does everyone else think?

Erenor, good thread, bravo.
In my opinion, more animals would be great. I want to say like maybe a centaur or Wemiks, (Spelling?=those cetaur lion things), Looking at Monster maual for Faerun, I saw Bane dead and Bane gaurds, cool since the may partake of the Book of the dead three. I was inspired last time, but am blank now.. Maybe Dinosaurs. Icewind dale2 has snakes. One thing I total think would be a great edition to the Black Isle series is the old school Naga Kind. Snakes with a humanesk head. Big on Conan here. Expanded deamons and devils. One for every type. One for sure would be the Osyluth.
B.G.1 had like eagles flying around, I don't think this series does.
There is a mod, called Staff of the Woodlands. It has expanded creatures unique to the game. Summoning staff. I have but can't install. I am hoping it will be refined for eaier installation.
I would to hear others opinion on this. Imagine in down the road some where, it all may be modded in.

Hurray, hurray, hurray for the brave commoners who dare to walk the Sword Coast!
I only kinda miss the orcs in this game. You may have some half-orcs (Mulahey, Tazok), but I would also like to see them "pure" as enemy's, like in Icewind Dale. Furthermore, I think that there are enough enemies in the game and that more enemies would probably "clutter the area's up", as Jaldur already noted.

Wemics don't really live in the Sword Coast region. Likewise with nagas, yuan-ti and so on.
Orcs and Bugbears would be pretty good additions, though.

I really kinda meant for the thread to include creatures that are missing from the game in general. I didn't mean the number of creatures or how often they spawn, but more from a variety standpoint.

I agree about the clutterness and all, but perhaps the idea here is replacement creatures or mod add on's. Also Iagree about geography and all too. But as trade rolls so do the badies. I would love to see additional areas and conflicts. Though I know this is kind of poitless in BG1, I think this thread is much more appropriate for BG2 forum. And Naga's the ultimate foe of Conan. Perhaps also this thread would rock the IceWind Dale series forums as well.

Personally, I think there should be more 'party on party' fights. Also, creatures missing from the game, hmm... I think they should have werewolves (not greater ones as the regeneration is too fast). Also, there should be a dragon or two? That would be awesome to fight a baby dragon and I think there should be a mod that adds a baby dragon with some nice equipment for its horde, whats a dragon without a stash?
Wyvern's are dragons
Nope. Wyverns are most definitely not dragons. They are listed as "dragon-type" for spell effects and the like, but they are not intelligent, have no breath weapon, can not cast spells and do not have age divisions.
Cheers,
TGHO

Dragons are definately more difficult and much cooler than Wyverns. A Wyvern reminds me more of a wasp than anything else. In other Black Isle games, dragons are intelligent and crazy difficult to defeat (at least the first time around). BGII displays them the best: more as massive sorcerers with hit points galore and breath weapons as a dragon should (What would a dragon be without breathing fire?). Icewind Dale II does a fairly decent job of incorporating them, but they are just difficult melee fighters with the occasional breath weapon blast.
