[QUOTE=VonDondu]C Elegans, snails (at least the freshwater kind) are hermaphrodites. When two snails mate, one of them assumes the male role and the other one assumes the female role, but they might reverse roles during their next copulation. Consequently, contact with a snail, while certainly questionable, is not necessarily heterosexual or homosexual. It depends on the snail.
To add to the confusion (I live to confuse, you know), sometimes when two snails try to mate, they both try to assume the same role (male or female), which is called "gender conflict". That's not the same kind of gender confusion we're talking about in this message thread, though, unless the snail and the brain are both trying to assume the same gender role at the same time.
That snail might be male next week, so you're only adding to the confusion, you know.
