Im new to the game and this forum.
The Ring will still be there after some of the patches. The Original Saga still has it, I'm sure.
I would hardly call the Moonblade a glow in the dark toy sword. It does great damage and is perhaps one of only several +3 weapons in Baldur's Gate without mods or the TotSC expansion.
Yeah, it was kinda meant ironical, you know...
WHAT? Are you sure it's there still after you've patched the game? Which version do you use, the 5 disc version or the other? Do you have Totsc?
I have both, but the version currently installed is the Original Saga one, not the 5 disk version. I remember it being in the 5 disk version too, however, but I have the Gold Edition, so I don't know if that effects anything or not. I did patch the 5 disk version, though.

Yup, but I still love that weapon. Does anyone else know of a +3 enchanted weapon in Baldur's Gate without any mods? I think the Moon Blade is the only one, but I'm not 100% sure.

Um, unless I'm out on terrible thin ice, short sword of backstabbing is a +3 short sword, no? You know, Slythe and Krystin (Oh look Kyrstin-honey, it's the *heroes of the sword coast*), the nice blade that you get in BG2 and even is worth to keep for a while in that game.
And as for the ring you're talking about, it's a mystery. I did manage to get it, once. It was right after a fresh installation of BG+ToTSC, no mods/patches installed. However, I kept it that way, out of anything that would alter it in some way, and still the ring was gone the next game I tried.
So, if you *really* want that ring you should have a freshly installed game, that's the only thing that's worked for me and some other people I've spoken to.
Really strange one, indeed.

@Thrifalas: Please watch your language.
This thread is going from one topic to another.
I have the feeling that I should step in and say: "please keep this thread on topic".
But there is the problem, this thread didnt have a real topic to begin with,
and since the BG forum doesnt have alot of traffic i'm keeping this thread open untill the subject is changing to something outside Baldur's Gate or untill i get complains.
Have fun!

Hi to the last comment I belileve it is my fault for the lack of topic. I just need general help and I thank the people who have helped.
The ring is not anywhere on my game. I have just installed BG and TOSC and it is not there.
Now for the general update. I attempted fighting the evil spirit that come from Carsa at the Firewine bridge. Notice i said attempted, it continued to destroy my team every time i tried to fight it, so now leveling up to get a bit better and try again later.

Um, this will also be terribly off-topic, but I'm just interested in what you mean by "watch your language", if I wrote something that could be considered flaming or personal insults, if it was just not understandable or what else I did wrong.
I don't want to argue on what it was, I'm just curious about it so I won't make the same mistake on other threads, and I'm not sure what I did wrong. So please, just tell me.

@Thrifalas: I have send you a PM
If you realy want the ring (and you should, its one of the best items from BG1'), you can edit it into the game using gatekeeper.
It isnt realy cheating since the ring should be there.
And isn't Ashideena a +3 weapon to (The warhammer from Bassillus)?
No, it's a +2 weapon.
The +3 weapons along with their locations are as follows:
- +3 Two-Handed Sword (Durlag's Tower Basement level 3)
- +3 Cursed Berserking Two-Handed Sword (Area 4100 or Beregost, depending upon the outcome of a certain quest)
- Short sword of Backstabbing (Baldur's Gate Undercellar Chapter 7)
- +3 Quarterstaff (Ulgoth's Beard Inn)
- +3 Sling (Durlag's Tower Basement Level 4)
- Staff of Striking (Durlag's Tower Basement Level 4)
