Just due to familiarity with Jan's character, what he says when he first arrives in hell.

"This is just like the time... Well, this reminds me of when... hm. I don't think anything like this has ever happened to me before."

And I know this is the SOA forum, but I'm a huge fan of Cespenar.

"I'se running out of recipes soon Going to have to find Martha. She's down here somewhere..."

Not to worry. ToB quotes are acceptable; in fact, they're practically encouraged.

I'd be surprised if someone hasn't mentioned this yet, but my favorite has to be from the movie Conan the Barbarian.

"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of there wives."

I love that one so.

i think it's a banter pack dialogue but if you equip minsc with lilarcor and have jaheira in the party, lilacor's request to see jaheira's sword is priceless.

the evil characters do have the best banter. edwin always makes me laugh, as does korgan. jan winding up anomen is hilarious as is viconia belittling aerie. the funniest banter for me, though, was korgan's propositions to mazzy. it's spread over three or four separate dialogues but it makes me shoot milk through my nose.

That's probably because it isn't a game (character) banter, as the title clearly asks for. ;)

@Thrain: banterpacks are great, never leave home without 'm. There's also one with Yoshimo, Aerie and Minsc about poker...I won't spoil these banters, because it's better to experience such things yourself. :)

Let's leave Conan the Barbarian to his own forums, and keep focused on quotes from BG2 characters, okay? ;)

@Fable

My favorite Minsc quote was always "Don't teach my hampster to suck eggs!" But a little while back you wrote it differently, something like "Go teach your grandmother to suck eggs!" Do you know which one is right, one way or the other?

Boy, nothing like resurrecting a year-old thread with an irrelevant comment. And the Conan quote is a paraphrase of something Ghengis Khan was actually supposed to have said, in case you're ever on Jeapardy.

But back to the topic...

@Cuchulain: Minsc's accent is sometimes hard to decipher but I have always thought he was saying your version. Hamster makes more sense than Grandmother. (Well, perhaps "sense" isn't the right word to use in reference to Minsc, but you get the point.) I think there is an option so that the spoken dialogue gets written out in the text box, if you are intensely curious.

My favorite quote from Minsc is his dialogue with the Pirate King on Brynlaw: "Just as I have my Boo, so you must have your parrot. Boo likes parrots. They could wrassle." Not sure if I got it quite right, but that is the gist of it. I often take Minsc to the island, even when I am "soloing" just to hear that exchange.

The first is Minsc's crazy mangling of the latter, which is the original. :D

Oh duh, I realize that now. Sorry about that, I linked here from somewhere else not from the BG2 forum.

Let's see, BG2.

"Evil meet sword, SWORD MEET EVIL." -Minsc.

I'll be a little more careful from now on.

If I remember it correctly (please correct it if it's wrong), an earlish quote from the mighty Minsc:

"I shall crush your foes into tiny foe shaped crunchie bits!"
I cannot tell what you and other men think of this life, but for my single self, I had as lief not be as live to be in awe of such a thing as I myself.

Probably already been said... but who can forget that adorable inebriated fellow when you first visited the Friendly Arm Inn:

"I need some air!" <burp>

edit: just realised this is BG2 :o , ah well - I'm sure the voice over is somewhere in Amn...

Incidentally, my favourite entering-battle sound was from Keldorn:

"Good is on our side this day!" (or maybe it was God?)
"I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!"

When the Githianki master comes to tell you that your fight is the next schedule and ask you if you're willing their help to exit the Mindflayer dungeons, Korgan answers him skillfully:

Simyaz: "You there! We have fought our battle and I believe that we're scheduled to face each other when next the jailor comes."

Korgan: "Well, then yer dead. Shut yer yap and let the rest of us sleep"

I fully appreciate the age of this thread, but I must add on. :) This dialog is known to so few because nobody ever takes Cernd into their party. I was so surprised when, after having forced myself to bring him along, he became desperate to find his child. I don't remember the exact lines, but it went along the lines of...

Cernd: (To a demonic or powerful undead servant) "I am calm. Like a bee must coax the the flower to surrender its sweet nectar, so will I RIP OUT YOUR THROAT IF MY SON IS NOT RETURNED!"

The player, I believe, can reply to his behavior after the conversation with:

PC: "Cernd, in the future, could you possibly be a little less psycho?!"

If anyone can find the exact text for me through an editor, I would be most appreciative. :)

My favorites:

Jaheira: "Imbecile! What do you and your hamster know? What can you know?!" (Take that you Minsc lovers :p )

Korgan: "Aye, this be a grand enough lot. Mayhap i won't be needin' to kill ye all anytime soon!"

Courtesan: "Hey sexy! Do you want to take a look at me titties?" :D

No problem. I've taken Cernd with me a few times. In my opinion, his best lines are in his dialogues with Minsc and Edwin. (MINSC: "You talk in circles, Cernd, but that's okay. Boo runs in them.") Cernd also has more dialogue than average with Aerie; he teaches her how to identify several different plants.

Cernd's dialogue with the servant named Glut is below, along with three different reactions from the player character. (I suppose "Glut" is short for "Gluteus Maximus" in recognition of his massive muscularity.)

Glut: I see you. I got special eyes just for the likes of you. Who are you? You ain't got business here.

Cernd: I should say I do. I would speak with your master Deril. Do be quick about getting him, will you?

Glut: He don't speak to no one. You will leave.

Cernd: As the simple wasp must coerce the flower to release its nectar, so will I rip your throat from its moorings and drain your lifeblood if I do not see Deril and my child! UNDERSTAND?!

Glut: Well, you sure sound like his other guests. He doesn't like to be disturbed, but I will tell him you are here. Maybe you are just late for the party, or whatever.

Cernd: Good man, good man, you go now and get him.

Alternative replies:

PC: Cernd, that was quite the outburst. I didn't think you had it in you.

Cernd: It's not so much in me as in a puddle around me. Scared myself, I did. It worked though. Let's see what our friend brings back with him.

PC: Could you be a little less insane please!? I'd like to get out of here alive.

Cernd: I'm not exactly sure what came over me there. Glad it passed, but it seemed to do the trick. Let's see what our thick friend brings back with him.

PC: Odd time to develop a spine, Cernd. I was expecting him to attack right there.

Cernd: I was as well. Not the brightest thing I've done today. Oh well, it seemed to do the trick. Let's see what the big lout retrieves.

How do you find these dialogs, Von?
I tried using Infinity Explorer, but couldn't finds the right dialog. I opened InfExp, went to the 'Dialog' section and looked at all the dialogs behind Cernd's name (i.e. CERND, CERNDJ, CERNDP, CERND25A, etc), but to no avail. Am I doing something wrong, or am I simply not looking right?

I use Infinity Explorer to look up dialogues. In the example above, Glut is the one who initiated the dialog, so you have to look at Glut's dialogues. His creature code is CEGLUT. If I know a creature's name, I use the Creature Browser in Shadowkeeper to find the creature code. If I don't know the creature's name or the creature code, I search the dialogues with Infinity Explorer using strings that are likely to be associated with a particular dialogue. For example, when you meet Glut, the game checks for the variable 'InParty("Cernd")'. You could do a search using that string to find Glut's dialogue.

A search like that will also find any other dialogue that checks for Cernd's presence. For example, you can find what Cernd says to your character if you tell Imoen that you don't have room in your party for her when you "rescue" her in Spellhold. Such dialogues are difficult to find when they reside deep within the dialogue trees.
