best classes to get everything from the game?

Post by Lujan »

Hello everyone. I'm a relative newbie to the game and sadly I'm a pretty busy guy, so I was hoping to get some opinions on what set of characters I should play as to get as many facets of the game as possible.

I just beat the game as a Ventrue male, staying pretty chummy with the Prince throughout. I'm now going through again as a Tremere female and intend to be friendly with the anarchs if that is possible (I'm not sure how much variation is possible until the end).

I'm thinking my next choice will be as a Nosferatu, because I'm curious how the whole "you can't interact with humans" thing will play out. Other than that only the Malkavians strikes with any particular interest, since they seem so screwy.

Obviously this is a pretty subjective question, but does anyone think I'll be missing any major treats with that particular set?

*SPOILER*
Also, I'm curious if there is a good site with fan made additions for the game- I looked but didn't find anything very readily. I might be interested in trying some new classes, skinpacks, or acquiring a "Heather doesn't die" mod (presuming there is more to it than her just not appearing in Hollowbrook, though I suppose you'd need the voice actress to do anything like that...)

Thanks for all the help! :)

I think you should play as the malkavian right away, believe me they're more than just a little screwy and they stand apart completely from the other clans.

As for a good site, i found some pretty cool stuff on www.planetvampire.com

Although i don't know anything about a "Heather doesn't die" mod but if they don't have what you're looking for you can always join the forum there and ask if they know something (they are even more into vampire then the people on this forum)

If you can parse the language, which is a tall order at times, Malkavian is quite an experience. Another problem is the clothing - Malks get some very uncool gear.
Female Malks look good at times, but watch out for the cowboy outfit (thanks Madonna!)
Male Malks end up as a cat in a hat.

I found both Tremere and Gangrel pretty satisfying, but each has their benefits.

Personally I can't deal with the Nosferatu clan. If I wanted to look that bad, I'd give myself an H2SO4 facial.

Concerning your choice of allies at the end: I think you can choose any with whatever clan. Just keep on everyone's good side (Lacroix, Anarchs, Max, Ming-Xiao), it is possible, none are mutually exclusive. See walkthrough what to do and what not to do for each one of them.

Hey Celacena what are you dissing the way malkavians dress for?!
That white fur coat and hat is just friggin awesome, as for the female, tell me the -xxx-ploit me sign didn't make you laugh!
And i also don't see what's wrong with the way they talk i can make perfect sense out of it (most of the time) and above all the way they talk and the responses they get are just hilarious!
Didn't you see the "ten reasons to play as a Malkavian" thread.

And by the way the nosferatu also look awesome , the male nosferatu reminds me of a ninja when he's in heavy leather (although he is actually in SM gear).

I also played as a Tremere once and they're alright and all but compared to malkavians and nosferatu the other clans are just a little bit........boring.

Free your mind and the rest will follow!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone.... maybe I'll do the Malks before the Nosferatu when I get through with my Tremere (its going much faster now that I know exactly what I need to do outside of the few sidequests I missed the first time... I'm mostly done with the SM sidequests in about 2.5 hours).

Lestat: I know you can go with any ending you want once you talk with the cabbie at the end, but as a Ventrue the anarchs were always very frosty so I thought I might be able to get them to warm up a bit more this time around... even though it won't have much to do with the overall flow of the game. ;)

Even playing as a Brujah, Damsel remained quite the shrew, but then again, that's part of her charm. ;)

Hey lujan, I think that you're going to enjoy playing as a Malk. I know I did, and I agree with melchiah so for all of you planning on playing the game as each of the clans save the malkavian for last because the others do seem boring afterwards.

Hey all, I'd just like to remind you that the forum rules in regards to profanity apply to words going around the filter, by ommitting or adding a letter. I know it sounds ridiculous, but that's the way it is. This is an all ages site, and politics being what they are, especially in the States, well, we don't want a law suit now do we?
So please keep profanity in mind and out of text.

Thanks,

That's just Damsel. I think she has one of those "I've got to be a scrowling padoink at all times or nobody will take me seriously" things going. I got that a lot when I was younger. Insecurity makes her owly. About the only Anarch that treats you nice is Smilin' Jack, no matter what clan you belong to.

Hah! Being hideously deformed is actually my favorite thing about the Nosferatu clan. The way humans react when you try to talk to them is priceless. Oh - and you never, ever have to speak with "Chunk."

It can be a bit cumbersome in some instances. Trying not to be too spoilerish.... Some NPCs will have nothing to do with you at first. You might have to do a favor for a friend to get their attention. Certain quests also can't be accomplished the "easy" way, since you won't be able to talk your way past the humans. You'll have to find a more subtle alternative.

Next to Malkavian, I'd say Nosferatu is the second most unique experience in the game.

Gangrel is also fun and interesting. If you focus on using Protean a lot (be sure to put points into Brawl and Strength as well), you'll be rippipng your opponents apart with your claws. It's a far more visceral experience than the other clans.

Thanks for all the insights. I gotta say that thus far I'm far more amused by being a female than I am by being a Tremere, but then again I've yet to make someone explode. ;)

Just wait until you get sick to death of being called cute names. It'll change your whole perspective on being male.

Malkavian

I didn't say I didn't enjoy being a Malk - once I started to pay closer attention to dialogue, the benefits outweighed the disadvantages. I liked the female malk gear apart from the cowboy outfit, but as that is the one that provides armour without dex penalty, I often wandered about in it.
I didn't like any of the male malk outfits apart from finding the cat in the hat outfit very funny. watching the hat flop about was hilarious at times.

everybody should play it as a malk at least once.

Well, you can call me stark raving mad, but I'm going to try to play out the game with each of the clans twice (once for each gender).
