Powerful? He died without even scratching Sarevok heh heh :P
'Tis true, but only cause Sarevok has an ass-kicking 100% magic res or something like that. It's hard to land a lot of spells on him anyway, and I can only say Thanks Angelo for getting your dispell magic off on him so he's not running like some overpowered train any more.

And besides, he was powerful. 5 mm shows that he was lvl9 and above, and that was pretty nifty for bg1. He was also able to release them very fast with some trick, so he was probably stronger than any mage you were able to build in that game.

But well, getting toe-to-toe with Sarevok, being a mage, in the final battle was never especially good. Especially not if you're like me, and just running through the game, getting your chars to lvl4-5 and getting two-hitted from the big bastard. ^^

And, don't forget that a whole party of ~lvl10 chars, you yourself didn't stand a chance against Gorion. ;) You could say he's the inventor of ctrl+r ^^

Xan!! god I love that elf. "While leader I will strive not to get all of us killed." And he is a nice change compared to your normal blow them up mage. I love the fact that on the defualt script he will charge in battle with his sword than run after only getting hit a few times.

True, Xan was always something specific and a char I would have dragged along every BGII-game, if it were possible. His lines were wonderful (Why don't we all just lie down and die?) and such, I laughed out loud a couple of times after hearing those.

Also, I loved his weapon (MOONBLADE! GIMME GIMME GIMME!) and the fact that he couldn't cast Invocation/Evocation spells, which made you think a bit about which spells was good when you couldn't mass MM on all your enemies. :)

One thought though, wouldn't it be nice to run into some elf mage called Jonoleth and his precious Ellesime, either they helping you out or hiring you for a quest, or something like that. Just to see how ol' Ire was when... Elvish. (That can't possibly be a word :) )

 Interesting to see so many people wanting a game called BG III but without any characters from BG I or II....a bit weird, isn't it ? While the game hasn't to be about the Bhaalspawn, it at least should have something to do with the original storyline or you might call it a different name ( like Icewind Dale ). How about playing your original mother or someone in her party ? So some people from BG I and II might be around ( younger of course ), Gorian, Firebread Elvenhair, probably Jaheira and Khalid as they are half elven, Xan would be interesting, sadly his brother died long before the original story in Icewind Dale, he would have been a nice addition too.... Elminster would appear too...hmmm, now it sounds so like Star Wars....

Volo should be my pack-mule. (a definate must)

Korgan not bieng by my side would cause MASS boredom for me. He would be greatly missed.....*tear*

I never cared much for Minsc or Jaheira. I couldn't stand having them around. (maybe it was their voices?) Plus I hated Jaheira's attitude.

New faces would be a must. Same goes with new playable races. (classes are ok IMO)

Talking of Minsc, could be funny to walk around in the wild and then running into a child that's hunting a squirrel, but doesn't look at where he's running, and he runs... right into a branch or something, thus getting his head hurt...

Later on you meet the same boy, now sitting and talking to a "miniature giant space hamster" ^^

Anyway, Minsc is probably the funniest character in the whole BG serie, and I'd miss him a lot to not have him by my side. He have made me laugh a lot during our adventures together, and imo he is the character that it screams most Baldur's Gate over.

Yeah, I liked Khalid. He started off quite weak but advanced very quickly to become my best fighter. Maybe being married to Jaheira gave him some sort of inner strength. :D I think he could be bought back from the dead. Shouldn't be too difficult to invent a ressurection story (been done before you know!)
Nobody mentions Garrick. He was uselss at most things, but I used him early on in the game to identify stuff-usefull trick considering it cost 100GP to identify things in a Temple. I liked his battle song.
The other thing I would Like from BG 3 is a bit of a challenge. My BG 1 & 2 character used to die regularly. My Morrowind character hardly ever dies which makes the game a bit too easy and a tad boring.

If they go back in time with the next one, I would like to see Keldorn as a younger man.

I hate Khalid, he was a whiny little guy, submissive and weak. No it took my strong, Fighter character to tame the savage, and beautiful Jaheira ^.~ - So to make a long story short, I don't think they'd make a ressurection story after so much time has passed since BG1

You think so? Personally, I think Korgan is by far the funniest.
Only way I could see myself wanting to run into BG-sereis NPCs would be in a sort of tutorial role at the start.
I think it is time to go a new route, and let sleeping NPCs lie :D
Wonder what a decrepit and disabled Minsc would look like being a mentor to your BGIII PC. :p

Xan, I'd love to meet him again. I was quite disappointed when he wasn't available in BG2.

Dwarven Mine

I'd definitely like to see a dwarven mine, really inhabited by dwarves, like a small underground city. Perhaps you already had one in BG2, that I couldn't say (haven't played the game yet), but you only had an abandoned mine in BG1: the Cloakwood Mines.
So in a prequel, I'd like to see that mine in an earlier stage, with a real clan. Perhaps also with Yeslick (as a young dwarf..?), since Dwarves can get quite old, so that should be possible. Though I wouldn't really miss him, if he wouldn't be there.

Mithril Hall would be a cool place to visit. Or you could even be brought up there. Then fight your way out of an invasion or something.

Tiax. He's funny (in a hell-bent world domination kind of way) :D . ' Tiax shall rule'.
Though I suppose he got killed off in a fight against Irenicus :( . It wouldn't be the first time NPC's were inexplicably brought back from the dead though, remember Tazok ;) .

I would like to see more other planes stuff. Like in Planescape but still tied to Faerun.

The BG Saga is over. If they will want to make a game whey'll have to place it before bg1 (like kill bhaal... ) or make an entirely new storyline in which case the name Baldur's Gate will be useless.

I'd like to see hints about great warriors that uprooted kingdoms with their strength (korgan), very powerful awe-inspiring drow (viconia), elminster having a great battle with an uber red wizard (edwin) or stuff like that.

If the story IS before BG1 there will be (again) a godlike storyline (killing the lord of murder) and if it's in the FR backround (probabily a lot of time after BG) it would be cool to find Minsc's Sword of A-lot-of-damage, Robe of Edwin, stuff like that. Make us remember the epic storyline that unfolded with BG!

But I'd sure love to find my party (korgan, viconia & edwin) :D My edwin would be a demigod wizard, korgan an old dwarven king and viconia... well.. she'll just be Viconia.

Well they can use the name Baldur's Gate even if the game's story itself has nothing to do with the prequels

Kevin Lynch, moderator of the Bioware forums, in the ongoing stickied BG3 thread, part III:

"This is Part III of the most recent of BG3 threads here and there. Please take the time to browse through those threads, as they have various tidbits of rumour on BG3 that you may be interested in reading.

"Some basic "facts" about BG3 are that Atari has stated there will be a BG3 (uhhuh), there is no developer announced (which I would suggest means that the game, if being developed at all, is incredibly early in the development cycle; probably not at all), BioWare states they are "not currently working on a BG3", and that anything released about what is in the game (by Atari reps, for instance) are quite likely to change by the time the game comes around (which won't be for a few years at the earliest, considering the development time required). Anything besides the above (and including the above ) is pretty much just rumour, so take everything fairly lightly.

"Feel free to discuss anything related to BG3 here. Any other BG3-related threads opening in the forum will be locked. A reminder: once BG3 has an announced developer, all BG3 threads will be locked and/or moved to the Off Topic forum. Until then, have at it."

in my mind that makes it way too early to even speculate about it. however, consensus is that it will pre-date the BG1/ToSC/BG2/ToB era. again, remember to take everything with a grain of salt.

and play the original series to keep your fix going. :D

I think it would be amazing to find Boo and take him under your wing. I mean, he's a friggin giant space hamster for crying out loud. think about that for a second. Oh, and Cespanar or Deekin. That is all.

I agree with this guy immensely. The story is definitely over and it would be amazing to go farther into the future from the bg story and go through places that were changed by npcs after the bg2tob game. I dunno who you could be though. Just make Cespanar a party member and I'm happy. And somehow have Boo in it.
