No problem, it wasn't hard to know ;) :D

I was thinking of making that thread on sunday. When I've done it, can you add the address to your signature? It would help, almost 5000 new adverts that way. :D ;)

Thanks, wats :)

5000 candles are a lot to blow out though :p

I'm not sure how stat points you get when creating a new character so I'm trying to find that atm.

Talk to you later wats :)

@Kip, don't know the race, just give wats character some stats, I don't think race changes it at all- apart from bonuses and subtractions (that's after the die throw though). How many points are there to use in stats?

DEX: 10
CON: 8

WIS: 15
CHA: 12

Was that just 6 rolls of the d20 die?

I think you get more points than that. I would allow people to choose which number goes to which stat- otherwise it ruins any character developnment.

When I get a chance I'll confirm the number of stat points given on IWDII with this, I think.

Nope, it was 3d6, which was pointed somewhere in this thread to be correct way to throw those stats.

About letting them distribute points themselves, it's only matter of what players wants, it's same to me

Hmm...still looks wrong to me though. Perhaps after you roll the die and get that you add on the other points gained through there. E.g. Str 6 is a penalty of -2, so maybe you add 2 more points somewhere else.

Have you sorted out the XP for the campaign? Depending on the size of the party you'll need bigger groups of monsters to provide reasonable challenges, that kind of thing.

Actually, I think it should have been done this way:
You should have race selected, then you throw dices. If your race has penalty to str i.e 2, then you throw 3d6-2, and if the race has bonus to dex, ie 2, then you throw 3d6+2.

This would make more sense to mee. But the result is same if you first thow then subtrack/add to those points.
And what I know/have heard, the way I made it is more "realistic", cause in real life you haven't either got chance to affect how intelligent you were when born or how strong :D

Most of those things must be done when we know how many players we have. I will adjust all quest-xp and those when we know that.

Yeah, that's true, but it does take away choices from the player. It's not as much fun if they feel they've been stuck with a certain class because the dice have been really unlucky. That's why I suggest you roll the dice and they choose where the stats go. That's the middle ground- with reasonable choice for DM and player.

Fair enough :)

I downloaded a good die rolling program. http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=17997- It's only for PDA's but seems quite good.

In one way, you are right. Maybe it's best to decide when we have heard what players think of this. There are dozens of variations how it could be made, like I throw 2-n times the dice for each stat, and players decide which one is used.

Hmm, I think I'm gonna make that NPC's stats and those now. But only stats, like race, class, abilities, skills and so on. I'll post those here when I get them ready, so that you can say your opinion as well. And I'm using that method I used crating Wats stats ;)
