Sterwick Campaign - Rule discussion and joining
Im not sure if its too late but may i please join? please? im have no experiance in AD&D or D&D but i find it fascinating and would really love to take part ina campaign, it is rare that an opporunity where somone offers to take it easy on newcomers arises, i would understand though if it was to late. Just in case anyone is wondering i live in London, UK
Ooh! Another Brit! We have to let Yepi join, just due to that...
I'm not sure when exactly we're going to begin, but I'm not against any new people joining. Kipi and I did discuss the posssibility of letting new people join after we began, but I don't know how much that is still applicable.
Anyway you should choose a class and roll some stats for that class.
Classes - Select from the Base Classes list. Have a look through the descriptions and see which you like the best.
Rolling Statistics- Look for the dice with 6 on the front and in the column under the '#' symbol enter 4. Then click the picture of the dice 6 times to roll it 6 times.
You should get results that look like this:
4d6+0
4,3,4,2+0 = 13
You should take the lowest number out (ignoring the +0), to leave you with one of your statistics. In the example above, you would take out the 2 leaving a result of 11.
Do this for each of the 6 rolls.
Hopefully that won't scare Yepi off...

Well this is what i got when i rolled the die 6 times. My character class is a Fighter since it is usually the easiest charcter to start with! After i got the below results, could you please explain one more time, without killing me or flaming how i use the below results to calculate a statistic
1d6+0
2+0 = 2
1d6+0
3+0 = 3
1d6+0
5+0 = 5
1d6+0
1+0 = 1
1d6+0
6+0 = 6
1d6+0
1+0 = 1
1d6+0
2+0 = 2
1d6+0
3+0 = 3
1d6+0
5+0 = 5
1d6+0
1+0 = 1
1d6+0
6+0 = 6
1d6+0
1+0 = 1
Fighter's good.
Sure.
You rolled 1d6's. For this you need 4d6's. You just put a 4 in the column headed by the # symbol next to the dice with the 6 on the front.
That will then mean you are rolling 4 dice with 6 faces at the same time (It's quicker than doing it 1 die at a time).

Next, you take away the lowest number in the roll. So you end up with 10, 13, 12, 15, 15, 15.
Then you choose which statistics the numbers go to. So Strength is important to a Fighter and should get one of those 15's. The same applies to Constitution.
Then the rest is more open to your preferred playing style. Charisma helps a few skills such as Intimidate. High dexterity helps your armour class (less chance of being hit) but doesn't make too much of a difference with the best armours. An intelligence of 13+ can give you greater feat access- allowing to perform better moves, cause more damage etc. Wisdom is pretty weak for fighters, that could probably be the lowest stat.
I recommend:
STR- 15 (+2)
CON- 15 (+2)
DEX- 15 (+2)
INT- 13 (+1)
WIS- 10 (-)
CHA- 12 (+1)
You get bonuses/penalties for statistics. As all are equal to or above 10 there are no penalties in this case.

There's still more to it. Look back at some of the stuff on previous pages. But I won't be around too much longer.
These are the skills you can put points into:
Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Ride (Dex), and Swim (Str).
Choose which ones you think you might use. You get 12 points to put into them. Where it says a stat in brackets add the bonus to the skill points you put in.
E.g. You put 3 points into Climb- add 2 thanks to Strength.
Make sure you choose a race for the character too. That may add bonuses or penalties: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/races.htm
Good luck. I'll check it for you later

Ok im thinking of either dwarf or Human.
Dwarf
Pro:Massive bonuses, +2 constitution
Con:-2 Charisma, i have low charisma already
Human
Pro:No Penalties
Con:No Bonuses
12 points to distribute
Climb:2 (Str), Craft:2 (Int), Handle Animal:1 (Cha), Intimidate:1 (Cha), Jump:1 (Str), Ride:3 (Dex), and Swim:2 (Str).
Do you think these are reasonable skill choices. I have not added the bonuses from the statistics because im not to sure on how to do that. If the above skills look strange tell me. And i really want to ride a horse
Now i am going to go to sleep. Its 1:21 AM here see y'all tomorrow. Hugs and kisses to all the females and high fives to all the males

Kipi-
I hope that you have not been expecting me to join this... I am unable to. Although Magrus may be somewhat possible... the time zone I am in makes it impossible for me to be around with the Aussies, as well as any Europeans, at the same time, without being up at either 3 in the morning or around mid morning... neither of which I can do.
Ill check in... if you ever need an NPC or random charcter, you know where to look,
and I hope that you all enjoy yourselves and find a way to fit all of each other in the game.
umm, well you are a ... sorcerer, so you get... 3d4x10 gold pieces. So, roll a d4 3 times and multiply the result by 10 (
Rav didn't get it)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
My poor snake
.
I ended up with 100 gold, which means that I cannot get the familar for now... that snake will be MINE!.
I'm fixing my character sheet as of now.

In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.
The snake would have probably ended up dead quickly anyway
@Yepi, if you want to play a dwarf you can always rearrange the stats a bit. As long as they are the same numbers it doesn't matter about the positions.
Maybe something like this:
STR (Strength)- 15
CON (Constitution)- 15
DEX (Dexterity)- 12
INT (Intelligence)- 13
WIS (Wisdom) - 10
CHA (Charisma)- 15
Then increase CON to 17 and decrease CHA to 13.
This link shows the bonuses given to stats http://www.d20srd.org/srd/theBasics.htm#abilityScores. Just find the stat number under the score heading and the bonus to it, is shown immediately to the right. E.g. a STR score of 14 or 15 would net a +2 bonus. That would be added to any skill that have a strength bonus such as climb, jump or swim.
Then there are only feats left to add, there's quite a lot to choose from- http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/feats.htm. If you're looking at the horse route, you'll probably need the Mounted Combat feat. Other good ones are Power Attack which allows you to sacrifice some of your attack ability to get greater damage, but better leads onto Cleave which effectively allows you more attacks. Dodge increase your defence and leads onto other better feats that allow you greater movement around enemies and eventually Whirlwind Attack - attack all enemies surrounding you in one go.
BTW, I'm not sure about the prices of horses but mounted combat is certainly fun if you can afford one. I'm thinking of going down that route eventually too.
I know this is a lot of information, if you have any questions feel free to ask

Oh yeah, that's right, you get to have your animal, but I'm left without my precious snake.
So Kipi when do you plan to start?

Horse costs:
Horse, heavy 200 gp
Horse, light 75 gp
Pony 30 gp
Warhorse, heavy 400 gp
Warhorse, light 150 gp
Warpony 100 gp
And the first three are bad in combat
Buying a mount may have to wait after all....
So you see Venom, we're as bad off as you are.
