About his equipment, I've rolled 110 gp. Usually in IWD, BG & Torment etc, i've only need to buy armor and a weapon. Is there any oter particular piece of equipment suitable for our campaign?
Think of it as partly a camping exercise, your character may need rations, a tent and/or a bedroll, that kind of thing. They're not completely essential, but should be useful.

Okay, so it seems that everybody has problems with the map file. I will see what I can do for it.

No, you should only need a fraction of it. First you should look at the class list and choose something that you want to try.

Well, I'd roll some statistics points for you (unless you want to). Then the numbers from the die roll would be put into Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma. As a halfling you'd get +2 Dexterity, -2 Strength to those numbers you put in originally.

After that you'd get a load of skill points which go into rogue-based skills. There's a quite a lot of those. The statistics determine bonus/penalties to those skills.

Then there's feats and buying equipment.

But it's best to take it step-by-step. :p

So, choose a class and race and say if you want me to roll statistics for you. Or I can show you how to. :)

Okay, do you want to roll statistics or use the ones I just have? (I'm not revealing them until you decide :p )

Letting you take care of it sounds like the easier option right now so . . . let me have it!

Okay, your results are:

15, 15, 15, 10, 15, 15

I would say Charisma is the least useful for you, so that should get 10, while the other stats get 15 each. But it's your choice.

I agree only "handle animal" depends on charisma so assign 10 to charisma and 15 to all else

Okay.
Now the bonuses on your stats are: +2 on each of the 15 pt stats and +0 on the CHA.
Which means your hitpoints are d8 +2 (that's the CON bonus) = 10
Your skill points are: (6+2)x4 = 32

So now you split 32 into the skills mentioned on the Ranger page. Add 2 to the final result of each of the skills you choose (the stat bonus) unless you choose 'Handle Animal' where the bonus is 0.

Welcom Chus! :)
I see that you have started the learning process, so I won't interupt it ;)

Which timezone you life, btw? Just so that I can add you to the post where is listed everybody's timezone, for easy determine of times for our sessions.

And for everybody else, I'm still working with the map file. I think it has something to do with the program I used to create it, which wasn't any "normal" picture-editing program, but one specialized to make map. But still working things out, please be patient ;) :p

@chu, you get these feats at Level 1 as a Ranger. 1st favored enemy, Track, wild empathy. You might want to check out those on the d20 SRD. You also get another feat to choose. You may want to look through the choices yourself, or suggest a direction you want to take your character in (e.g. defensive, offensive, mounted combat in the future maybe).

Choose a favoured enemy on the Ranger page too.
