HLA are tied to total (ie. all classes added together) experience score, not level. Past a certain experience point, every level up grants you HLA. You can choose a HLA from all classes you have for each HLA you gain. (so you could take Whirlwind attack with one of your thief level ups if you are a thief/fighter)

I once played a F/M/T and didnt get the HLA's from the mage part which was a bummer as my pc has never had any mage HLA's. So I just restarted as a mage/thief.

IIRC, most of the mage HLAs occupied level 9 spell slots. There was an HLA to add one additional spell lot for level 6, 7 or 8. But most triple classers would not be able to cast level 9 spells anyway.

He was basically solo so he could could cast lvl 9 spells soon. And no mage HLA's were available, not summon planetar, not extra spell slots, nothing.

Isn't the xp cap for ToB 8 million? Mage level 18 to cast level 9 spells requires 3m xp. So a triple classer can only invest 2666666 xp into the mage class. If you have a level cap remover, make sure they also come with they also edit the spell progression tables if I am not mistaken.

The extra level 6, 7 and 8 slots should have been allowed to be an HLA for a triple classer. I think a fan made patch or mod addressed this.

My f/m/t's casting abilities were disappointing. At max exp. (2.666 mil), I could cast a few level 8 spells, but the bummer was that I had only 3 level 6 spells, which are precious for the protection from magical weapons- essential for soloing. :(
