I know it's generally inadvisable to multiclass a spellcaster, at least more than a level or two, but what's the most you would ever multiclass one of your main spellcasters?
For instance, let's say you wanted a Paladin/Sorcerer who was primarily a Sorcerer. How many Paladin levels could you add without thinking you gave too many?
What about divine spellcasters? Let's say a Barbarian/Druid, for example?

Multiclassing spellcasters

gd question. these are combos ive had b4;
paladin3/sorc (nice saving thro bonus. because ur worth it)
pal3/fight4/cleric x (a cleric with holy avenger and long sword specialisation. DUDE)
barb x/ druid x (depends if u want more of a melee or magic. but a raging dire bear kicks ass! and if u use the mod then a barb9/druid21 raging half dragon with a focus in great swords is the final bosses' worst nightmare)
rogue 10/fight 4/ranger1/wizard x (multiclassing penalties were a pain, but it was fun)
bard 11/fight4/barb x (u no like my play? I SMASH U!)
personally a single class character seems boring. and a pure spell caster would be dull.

2 Pal levels...

honestly the question of "when to take alternate levels" is more valid then how many levels to add - if multi levels are taken too early your casters development as far as spell casting will be stunted.krunchyfrogg wrote:I know it's generally inadvisable to multiclass a spellcaster, at least more than a level or two, but what's the most you would ever multiclass one of your main spellcasters?
a pally / sorc could finish @ pally 10 / sorc 20 - however since pallly levels must all be taken in a row i usually stick w/ 2 or 3.For instance, let's say you wanted a Paladin/Sorcerer who was primarily a Sorcerer. How many Paladin levels could you add without thinking you gave too many?
divine spell casters gain access to all their spells @ level 17 - that gives them 13 levels to play with w/o impacting them much.What about divine spellcasters? Let's say a Barbarian/Druid, for example?
