Final Version of the German 1.4 to English Mod

Ok, here's the 100% English final version of the mod... and the readme...

You can get the mod by clicking here.

(It's the easiest way to track the # of downloads.)

I hope the mirrors can catch up...

This is the Final Version of the mod, again. "Version 1.41 Final"

And remember that this is unofficial, which means that Dreamcatcher,
Heuristic Park or Typhoon Games has nothing to do with this modification.
Also if this add-on harms your computer etc. we are not responsible.
(Although I see no way it can, It mostly renames Dungeon Lords sound
files and adds a couple of new translated files.)

Required game version: Dungeon Lords German 1.4.

To install:

It's best to start with a fresh install of Dungeon Lords then:

1) *Download and install Dungeon Lords English Patches to make yours Version 1.3:
- 1.0 to 1.1 http://dungeonlordsgame.com/download/dl ... update.exe
- 1.1 to 1.3 http://dungeonlordsgame.com/download/Du ... 0patch.exe
*Note: If your game is Version 1.3 out-of-the-box then goto 2.

2) Download and Install the Dungeon Lords German 1.3 to 1.4 Patch:

** MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL IT INTO YOUR DUNGEON LORDS FOLDER. **
The default directory is different for the German Version.
The German default directory is C:\Program Files\Dungeon Lords (YOU MUST CHANGE THIS!)

It must point to the defualt directory for the English version which is
C:\Program Files\Dreamcatcher\Dungeon Lords

If you installed Dungeon Lords into a folder other than the default then
"browse" to your Dungeon Lords folder and select it when installing both the German 1.4 patch and this mod.

3) Install this mod which you have obviously downloaded.

** THIS WILL UPDATE ANY PREVIOUS INSTALL OF THIS MOD TO THE CURRENT FINAL 1.4 **

Install them in that order and it you should be playing DL 1.4 in minutes.
If you were playing DL Version 1.3, then you will have to start a new game to see the changes.

And a recap from a post 3Days posted on the Dreamcatcher forum regarding
the DL1.3 to DL1.4 changes:

Singleplayer:

Players using ninjutsu can change with "Q" between fists and ranged weapons

You only can leave the shadow ruins AFTER getting the staff of holyness

If accessing the character-menus or other sub-menus, no more monsters spawn

In camp-modus, every hour will be checked if monsters spawn

The speed for removing traps on boxes is now different. Now not only is the trap skill important, but also the level of the trap.

You can change with "F" between magic and melee mode

It´s not possible anymore to assign XP after death

After reviving, there's a message that tells you, which attribute has been decreased

In the options, you can activate a target marker (known from FPS). It shows you the actual sighted target

There are added many new spells, with the main focus on multiplayer, there are still some that do not work, and some have been added.

All heraldic signs are now included and work

All skills are now included and work, like they were announced. Players with the skill "critical hit" are now

Informed by message, if they made a critical strike.

If a player is falling down from an island in the shadow region, he dies and will be revived at the entrance

Now you can create your character individually with different hairstyles and skin colors. Also you can choose

You can now choose if you want your character to be right-handed or left-handed.

Special Weapons must be powered up at altars

Now the thief character has "identify" in his skill list

New sound effects for all races in the case of wounding or death (over 30 new SFX)

New sound effects for nearly all non-human monsters (over 200 new SFX)

You must now repair your items if they are damaged.

You must now Identify any item you pick up, otherwise it will say "? Weapon ?", "? Jewelry ?"... etc.

Multiplayer:

The game now checks language and game version before you can join a Multiplayer-Game.

At loading a terrain zone, all players are fixed at their location, until all other gamers are arrived in the zone.

If a player leaves the game, all important items will be transferred to the game leader automatically.

:confused: Omg i dont know how many times i have done wat u said, install dl, install english 1.3,then install german 1.4, then ur thing, it never works!! sorry i know this must sound nooby but it alwasts stays as version 1.3 and instead of being in english the item names are in german. wired thing is tht everything else is normal(english).

lol i think im a lost hope for this mod.
if u got any idea's reply soon

When you install the German patch, make sure you point it to your Dungeon Lords folder. The German patch defaults to
c:\Program Files\Dungeon Lords ... (which is not where the English version is.)

It should point to c:\Program Files\Dreamcatcher\Dungeon Lords

Once you've installed the German patch, re-run this mod and it should work fine!

I just got done reading your thread on it over at Dreamcatcher and got it installed and running. Works like a charm only I haven't played in so long I forgot how to play exactly. lol I still see a few typos here and there, but overall it's great. I get to dual-wield with a shield as a ninja lord lmao. Thanks for all your hard work! It's much appreciated. :)

The typo's were on purpose, actually. BungBo had to replace German words with English words. German words, most of the time, took up less space in the gd6string file, so he had to shorten the english words, or make it look like something most people could recognize. Using the full, correct English words would have corrupted the file and made it useless... so the end result was shortened English, but readable.

hi again, i got it to work!!! it is doing good, but when i pick up items they are called " ?? wepon?? " is this part of the game or a mistake by u? no offense

Yep. You have to actually 'Identify' the items you pick up now! AND you have to repair your Armor and Weapons when they get damaged!
So when you pick up an item it will say "? Weapon ?" or "? Jewelry ?" or "? Shield ?" for example... until you goto a shopkeep and get the item Identified.
Unless of course you have the Identify skill! Then you can do it yourself!
There is also a Repair skill so you don't have to goto a shopkeep to repair your stuff all the time!

When you run the German 1.4 patch that should update the game's initial screen should it not? I ran the German patch (to the Dreamcatcher sub-directory) and checked the files in DOS and none of them have changed, though the directories have datestamped the time I ran the German patch.

Anyway, in the initial screen (with the portcullis) I still seem to have a version 1.3, and the game works fine. I tried a new game and there as no difference.

Kinda weird I reckon.

It sounds like the German patch didn't get installed correctly.
You have to pick your Dungeon Lords folder. If it is installed into the default folder, then it's in C:\Program Files\Dreamcatcher\Dungeon Lords

Once you have the German patch installed... Dungeon Lords WILL NOT RUN until you install our mod. So that would be a way to test if you have the German 1.4 patch installed correctly.
Install the German 1.4 patch, then try starting Dungeon Lords... if it starts then it wasn't patched right. Try again.
If it errors out, then install our mod and it should be 1.4 English.

Yep I'm installing into the right directory ... even have the GER text file in German, but thats all. The Directories update but none of the files in them do - how could that happen?

I think I will try a different GER 1.4 patch since the zipped version I got is only 51 megs and I saw a 66 meg one out there.

1st of all where is the 66mb german patch - i have the 51mb and it won't load the game after the german install, OR after the german to english mod please help!!!
i did follow the directions as to where to run the files, i even copied and pasted so it would be correct, so far i have uninstalled and reinstalled 2x's to no avail, oh boy :speech: i was better off waiting for dc to spoon-feed my ignorant noob self :( :eek:

Sorry I can't rember where the 66 meg zip file is, just that there is one out there.

My problem was simply not paying attention. All I know is that now I have started a new game I can customize my character, items break and a bunch of other cool stuff happens that didn't with 1.3.

The 66 meg file is for patching from 1.2 to 1.4, the 51 meg file is for patching from1.3 to 1.4!

it doesn't matter the 65 mb file just changed 1.3 to 1.4 i finally figured it out thx for the input :) ILOVE THE DIFFERENCE!!!!
