Nalia, what about Nalia? Nobody ever mentions her and she does so much to try and help you 'less fortunate' people! I think she may be my favourite character, i definately want her back in the next one, maybe helping the poor little protagonist to get started with a sincere gift of a few gp, how about it? You know you want her back.
I'm sure I said I wanted her back ages ago, back when the thread was newer. I think you and I are the only ones in the whole forum who like her .

Boo and Chikita Fast-Paws sitting up a tree...

Well, it seems that several people want Nalia back, she was a woefully underdeveloped character in BG II but had the potential for a great story, i'm certainly hoping for her to return in the next one. (If there is one)

I'd rather have Jan Jansen back. Nalia is coolio - aye - but she does need better voice acting and story next time. She had a whole stronghold of her own back then and she wasnt even a deeply written character IMO!
Anoweenie would be nice to see, specially if he would curse his past as a loser
I hope he dies.
Why? Has he refused to date your neutral dwarfish berserker girl named Claire?
Anoweenie was one of SoA powerhouses. He deserves to be there in the future, and being Anoweenie as he is, he'd be successfull in surviving and bossing people around. Therefore, a questgiver.

Sarevok (the ultimate warrior) and Imoen. (ur half-sister) These two characters have to back or else ur bhaal story tale is meaningless.
Go deathbring assault!
Btw, i like to see Korgan as well; he just amuses me (doesnt get along with anyone)

Alright, but maybe the option of killing him...

As far as cameos, I'd prefer to see (if I must) someone else that's famous from Forgotten Realms besides Drizzt. I like Drizzt, but anyone else would do. I would prefer to avoid old party NPC's. If they were killed, as ghost form, they'd be a wonderful encounter to crush their spirit or bind them into servitude, or spark some minor side-quest, but hopefully nothing critical for the main plot. Maybe just either like a book to pick up, a painting/statue in the background, or some child that's grown up (like the boy of the mother turned into the spider in the circus tent) who can tell a tale.

I'd like to see Minsc (and Boo of course!) and Edwin. But also, believe me or not, I'd like to meet Khalid again. Yes, I know he died. Still. And even though many think he's annoying I think he's sweet! Also, Haer'Dalis! I love poetic tieflings.

A lot of folks sounding off here want to see NO ONE return for a hypothetical BG3. So then, what's the point of a BG3 if there's no NPC connection or continuity from a role-playing perspective? None IMO. I'd be disappointed if at least *some* characters didn't make the transition over.
Wish list:
1. The Spectator - he was always complaining about not having any purpose so I say give him purpose by making him an uber-beholder and playable as part of your party. Tell me you wouldn't want to cast those insane powers for once instead of defending versus same! I'm sure a plausible inventory system for an eye tyrant could be created and it's not as if the Spectator would be the only class in the Realms not to wear armor or jewelry. You could augment him with strong starting arcane powers to compensate. I'd love to have those 8-10 beholder ray attacks per round (plus the per round spell). Let him conjur Gauths-o-plenty to boot.
2. Elminster is a great idea already mentioned several times over. You have to assume that any character would start somewhere between LVL 15-25 (depending on the class) for any third installment, so Elminster riding along seems plausible. Think about it: your character could gain new abilities or spells directly from him (as an NPC in your party) depending on how you perform and how you conduct yourself throughout the game. He could be generated with a hair trigger for breaking from the party if you fail to conduct yourself accordingly but, should you be successful in maintaining his allegance, he could be a source of gaining power/ability *in addition* to predetermined XP levels achieved. Could be a really interesting game element IMO.
3. Hermaes Whatchya-ma-call-him. The guy that kept screwing you over in BG2... would be a great thief NPC to play. The dialogue references could be quite comical.
Other than that, Edwin, Korgan and Minsc were the only stand-out personalities that warrant the encore IMO. Everyone else was lame, boring or whined waaaay too much. Although, I never played with Viconia or Jan and I hear they were pretty fun characters as well.
My 2 cents

Well it totally depends on WHAT type of game BG 3 would be.
If your main char is unrelated to the Bhaalspawn then I'd like to see the old guys only appear in cameos. Not actually as companions.
Like if you were in Waterdeep, you could go into a bar and talk with Edwina, the barkeeper or waitress, or you could be there for when Cernd has his final battle with his son. Stuff like that that wouldn't interfere with the continuity

If there is going to be a BGIII i hope it has the classic people like Minsc,Boo,Imoen, jahiera, people like that ,cause I hate it when in every different RPG series the makers make all differant charicters.
O and SP101 u rock , they should totally have a dum person like Neeber and noober in every BG.

Personally I'd love to see each of my party members, some more than others, they've particularly grown on me during my time gaming. No doubt Imoen would be in BG3 if it's based on the same Protagonist as BG2 and 1, however I've always seemed to dislike her. :\
Who I'd like to see in BG3 are Minsc and BOO, Aerie, Hear'dalis, Jahiera, Anomen.
I'd be interesting to see some of the same bad guys in BG3, like I still remember seeing Tazok in Windspear Hills, a guy I supposedly killed in BG1.
Oh yeah, that Spectator Beholder was entertaining to talk to, I even thought I might have to kill it whilst I was conversing with it... which upset me somewhat, to find you could let it go amused me. I'd like to see it in BG3.
I think anyone I recognized would be nice seeing to be honest.

I lurk behind your soul, in the very fiber of your being. I am the only thing left when mind and reason are stripped away. I will show you what you can be, what you can do... if you simply let yourself become what you are. I can show you all of this, because I am within. I am what fills the void. I am you.
