I created a Monk as protagonist and a sorcerer (in multiplayer and saved it to siingle player). Then I recruited Korgan, Viconia, Jan and Jaheira.

I just don't like it though. Koragn constantly asking "why are we..." pisses me off.

I've tried evil groups, and honestly the closest thing I can bring myself to do is to have the evil NPCS in my party. I can't betray people and murder children, it just isn't in me.

I'm going to try evil next just to see what the less-than noble options are, but I have a feeling I won't really care for it. Not so much for moral reasons (it is just a game, after all), but because the game (like BG1 and IWD) doesn't really give you any incentive to be evil. You're practically forced to be good. Maybe they do it for PR reasons. I can imagine the flak they'd get from parenting groups (just for the record, I'm a responsible father of a 3-yr-old girl and 6-mo-old boy) if word got out about a game where you play the child of an evil god and were encouraged to act on that evil.

I do the same. If you stick and are TRULY evil you'll only do the Rejec Aromour quest and the quests you HAVE to do. The TRULY evil suffer...
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

That's prettymuch the reason why most RPG's don't let you really play "evil". I was reading about a mobster game once (can't remember which one), and it mentioned that there are tough laws against depicting murder, rape, and other violent crimes (FPS's seem to be immune to this...don't ask me how) overseas, especially Germany (second largest video game market if I recall).

Now, add that with the recent focus on the video game industry as a "corrupter of the American youth". Therefore, companies have to be very careful with the type of material they produce. Look at the flak D&D still gets.

BG2 does let you get away with a little petty evil (I guess you could call it "situational evil"). However, I wouldn't hold my breath about getting a chance to play the "Athkatla Harlot Slasher" in BG3.

Sigh, if only it wasn't America that made most of the good games.

Not just the moral question, it's a question of practicality. If you wanted to have an evil storyline paralleling the good, that would mean a game twice as big, cost twice as much and would've taken twice as long to ship. Demographic data indicates that more people tend to play good characters anyway.

You will never get as much XP playing evil as you would playing good, but you'll still hit the XP cap (it will just take longer). And it can be fun playing evil, it requires a different approach.

MINOR SPOILERS

There are some quests where there is an evil option:

- the Hidesman quest
- Windspear Hills
- Valygar
- Anomen
- a few of the Underdark quests

Just to name a few.

You forget the Copper Coronet quest! You can kill Hendak instead of rescuing him and get a reward from Lethinan...

Memnoch, that is like saying people tend to gas cars over electric. They only do it because they have no quality alternatives.

I must admit I enjoy my evil party a lot more than my goody goody party. It's simply a matter of living the role as evil also when you answer in dialogs be rude and aggressive. You will end up in more fights but afterwards you feel nice and evil (if there is such a thing?) also it is nice to go to beggars because you know they will ask for money. then tell them to get lost and the share sight of them disgust you.
Its more interesting than everybody want's to be a hero.

It's a shame that it isn't easier playing really evil, but when you think about it -it's hard to play really good as well; when i played paladin i relized that a lot of quests weren't built for an absolute good pc. Ex: Kangaraxx: -what good guy would help him (but you'll have to for the ring of Gaxx)
The graveyard: (now we can't start plundering graves can we?)
Anyway you can play evil with some limitations -Don't worry too much over rep. You'll steal what you want anyway. Choose evil when you can, when you can't -think of the money and stuff you'll get. Anyway if imagination is important to you -you'll make up an excuse for get that teddybear back!
