Darkwoods eating my new friends!

Post by The Reaper »

Hi guys, The Reaper here.

I've recently bought a copy of FABLE: THE LOST CHAPTERS, and may I say: it is a good game.

Today I had accepted a mission to go escort a couple of traders through the darkwoods, although not keen on venturing into these woods I thought I'd give it a go. But alas, my new found friends seem to become easy targets for enemies... even when I tell them to stay where they are, while I scout out the rest of the area for bandits and creatures, the enemies seem to go straight for them when in a fight... Completely ignore me and run towards them... They do fair well against the attacks but when I get up, or near the end of the marshes they don't seem to fair much against the last lot of attacks...

Any hints on how to get these two through the darkwoods and safetly to the next town? Any help would be much appreciated.

The trader quest, is it? I always managed to get through even on the first time. Tell you what, leave them at the entrance of that map, walk around all by yourself until you trigger a wave of enemies. Upon doing so, rush back to where you left the traders and start fighting those enemies that reach you. Easier that way, though your traders might get hurt in the process. Sounds tedious but it gets the job done. :)

Just keep doing this and just leave the traders at the entrance until the whole place is cleared. Only then can you ask them to follow you.

P.S. You must have cure so at least you can heal them when they get hurt.

Another trick, make sure they're following you and dash like mad to the region exit. No matter where they are, they'll be with you in the next region. Also helps to have slow time for this.

So you 'can' run to the exit? That does sound good...

I also have another questions, which answer could be found in the GameBanshee database, but I'll ask it anyway: what about the diseased trader you bump into? I am thinking of bringing him along, you know? Out of the kindness of my own heart, but before doing so I would like to know what happens if you do... Does he transform? Does he try to kill you or the traders?

Yeah, you can also use that trick but you've got to be pretty lucky to do so.

Well, you can bring him along if you want to. (spoiler, please highlight ;) )
Spoiler
And yes, be warned, he will transform into a balverine eventually at some point in the game and will be more than happy to kill both you and your escorts.

Takeing the trader all depends on how "Good" you feel like being... If you don't take him you lose alignment.

If you do take him you don't gain or lose anything.. See DesR85 Spoiler if you want to know what happens if you do take him ;)

I would recommend taking the diseased trader along with you, if you do, the result
Spoiler
is bearable. Also, if you are still having trouble getting the traders through alive, pick up the heal life spell. It workes on those following you nearby and you'll almost definately need it later on.

actually you can't run through because the exit is blocked near the end and you have to fight a earth troll, so I would go with the leaving the guys at the beginning so you don't get raped by a earth troll and a bunch of bandits! :D

I've tried twice and still (please highlight, spoiler)
Spoiler
that guy turned into a balverine after exiting the Darkwood camp.

you can do easly with wellows pickhammer that you get on the way to darkwood.
its in a demon door that you can only get in to if you do one of the 3 options:
1:be fully evil.:mischief:
2:eat 10 crunchy chicks in front of it. :p
3:murder a few people in front of it(not sure how many, never did it before  )

I have done this quest a few time and there have been different results

you can run straight through with little or no trouble

if you try to fight all the villans the infected merchant will change

you can also (if you want some evil points) sacrafice the ifected merchant and one of the other two at skorms chapel and you will still get the same amount of money for getting only one of the merchants through

Hello.

The walkthrough said: Get the 'Heal' spell, it works well in giving them their life back!
And I also say: And if you're in a fight and some guy charges past you either use 'Slow Time' either use lighting while running to catch up with him: It will freeze him and allow you to get close enough to him to kill him.
If you're fighting close to the traders and some enmies attack them you can get them away and regroup by using 'Enflame' wich will knock them down on the ground...

P.S.: The Reaper eh?... Really cool name!
