Can't Steal
this is just a little semi-related questions but, wats the best place to steal in south- (forgot town name) and oak vill and wats the loot:mischief:
Bowerstone South, if that's what you mean. Anyway, I don't think there are any good places where valuable stuff can be stolen. In fact, almost all the towns in Fable had the same loot (spoilers, please highlight:.

save for the fact that you're doing the book quest in the TLC version, then I will recommend going to Bowerstone South and North, Knothole Glade and Oakvale)

from people's houses. Much easier than trying to steal from shops.

Hmm...
Well I don't think I'll go for that wedding plan, because it works only for the barber (she's the only female shopkeeper) unless your gay in game and it sounds like too much trouble for a small outcome.
But if you people say that the bell rings sometimes when you're sneaking then I had bad luck 4 times in a row...
I shall try the bear plan but I was actually planning to do night robberies, hmm, perhaps I should make some sort of diversion? Like breaking a window somewhere in the other part of town and then quickly running towards the shop while the guards go to investigate it? Is the AI in Fable actually smart enough for that?

Actually, I tried that and I was caught instantly no matter how far I ran away. Anyway, about your question, I don't think the AI is that smart. I tried breaking a window when the guard's back is turned and he didn't even respond.
