And the armory in oakvale to... and some other shop in snowspire village
Even the guilds shop is protected against that[/QUOTE]
Or, y'know, you could follow my advice an' get yourself some nightly barber-nooky. :D
Itch. It itches to feel you cleave to the song of my mettle,
to yield and surrender in nearly every way;
if not in all the important ways.

Bowerstone South, if that's what you mean. ;) Anyway, I don't think there are any good places where valuable stuff can be stolen. In fact, almost all the towns in Fable had the same loot (spoilers, please highlight:
Spoiler
save for the fact that you're doing the book quest in the TLC version, then I will recommend going to Bowerstone South and North, Knothole Glade and Oakvale)
.

Anyway, the best place to steal stuff in any town is usually (spoilers)
Spoiler
from people's houses. Much easier than trying to steal from shops.

Hmm...
Well I don't think I'll go for that wedding plan, because it works only for the barber (she's the only female shopkeeper) unless your gay in game and it sounds like too much trouble for a small outcome.
But if you people say that the bell rings sometimes when you're sneaking then I had bad luck 4 times in a row...
I shall try the bear plan but I was actually planning to do night robberies, hmm, perhaps I should make some sort of diversion? Like breaking a window somewhere in the other part of town and then quickly running towards the shop while the guards go to investigate it? Is the AI in Fable actually smart enough for that?

Actually, I tried that and I was caught instantly no matter how far I ran away. :( Anyway, about your question, I don't think the AI is that smart. I tried breaking a window when the guard's back is turned and he didn't even respond.

do you mean..

when you say the bell rings do you mean the alarm or the door bell, because if you mean the door bell, after it goes off stop and stay still and youll eventualy hear snoring from upstairs
