[GODWIN]Reading that initially reminded me of when a Jewish nationalist in France shot a German ambassador or whoever over the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany. And the attack justified Hitler's position rather than accomplishing anything. [/GODWIN]
Frankly, I'm surprised it's even taken this long for something like this to happen. This kind of thing is common enough during times of great stress like now. As I mentioned earlier, there was the Jewish man against the Nazis, and of course there's also the hostility Arab Americans received post-9/11. The violence against Jews and Jewish landmarks will probably continue so long as this conflict keeps going.

Calling Annan in effect a lackey of anybody is about as likely as calling George Bush "overly flexible," Vladimir Putin "meek and mild," and Tony Blair, "honest and caring." I'm afraid this one is very wide of the mark. [/QUOTE]
I think Annan often get an undeserved bad reputation because of the meek stance of UN. Annan likes to talk, but have little power to do anything.

How much power does the UN have? Not counting what power it might get from the US.
