Hero talk?
I wouldn't mind if the main character has a voice, provided that the voice actor is interesting and is able to portray the personality (and feelings) of the main character. However, it may require a tremendous amount of voice work to pull off. On the other hand, if Lionhead decides to go for a mute main character, I would at least prefer that they provided conversation options (both good and evil) for the player to choose. In a way, at least you feel that the main character does play a role in the game rather than just not participating in a conversation at all.

only certain kinds of games should have a main character speak. But a game like Fable that says "Hey you! this will be you new life. " it doesnt really fit in. game where you must choose your path and live this character's life the way you want to dont need voices for the main character. If this character is supposed to be me, well i wouldn't really enjoy having my self speak in emotions and tones completely different from the real me. It should be up to me to react to what people say to me. Even if that means jumping up in my couch screaming "Oh, Know i get it!"
sorry if i didnt make sense. For some reason, everything i said work out logically in my head.

It made perfect sense to me Although I would like a voice, I also agree with what you are saying. If its a roleplaying game, do you really need to have a voice? Sure its nice to have your character speak, but it does take something away from those players that want to pretend they are the main character. I personally pick a persona I want to roleplay as in roleplaying games, rather than myself, and often don't even pick the same gender characters as myself, but some people do like to play as themselves in these kind of games.
if they do a voice i hope they have an option to turn it off if you don't like it
please those who want a voice and please those who don't win win win!
in fable the hero didn't speak at all except when i think

Must've been Jack of Blades' voice or something. I don't think the hero ever said anything at all.Unreality wrote: in fable the hero didn't speak at all except when i think

I don't think your voice should distort if your evil....I mean look at hitler and gacy, they're about as evil as you can get and they looked and sounded normal, aside from the wierd mustache hitler had >.>
Fear is the emptiness inside your heart. Never underestimate the capablities of someone's actions towards you.
Kind of in an agreement here. Should the main character be able to talk, choosing the evil conversation option will suffice. The way the voice actor voice either bad or good conversation options should be enough (as opposed to coming up with different tones).Darth_Juro wrote:I don't think your voice should distort if your evil....I mean look at hitler and gacy, they're about as evil as you can get and they looked and sounded normal, aside from the wierd mustache hitler had >.>
But I'm guessing that the developers will surely opt for the 'mute' option for the main character, just like what you see in most (if not all) RPGs.
