I replayed DL for the second time now and still am not satisfied.
Although I am a "Mage- or Witchmaster" (german title, the second title of the arcane/mage campaign, the first is named "Combatmage", that is, in german, well-said. I'll look up the correct english titles and post em here),
there's always displayed a penalty with magic weapons which are heavy.
For example, for the medium-weighed green poison mace I already succesfully eliminated the penalty which WAS there before I raised some of my attributes.
But NOTHING helps against the penalty concerning heavy magic weapons which is a shame for a mage!
I started out the game in version 1.3, then upgraded to 1.4 and included my old 1.3-saves in the newly updated 1.4-version, maybe that could be a reason.
Of course, when one updates to 1.4 after already having started the game, he has to manually re-include the savegames which in the new updated game now show funny looking question marks in the descriptions of many weapons/items - normal, cuz now, the game includes a raisable skill named "identify". So that is no prob.
WHY the heck then have I still got that penalty?
Maybe because I did use DL savegame-editor 1.4? Could be.
But I think I know what I altered - some more health potions for underway, a very high intelligence for low prices; BUT:
It IS true that before having received any mage title, I had my magic weapons attribute level already at around 12 which maybe then should have been lower.
BUT again: After having received the second mage class title which in german is "Mage- or Witchmaster" (the sign of it is the head of a mage in a red cloak, it's on the topright side of the five main tier class symbols on top of the right character window), I set all my magic skills to zero where there are no faculties displayed at all, and then raised em with trained, but nevertheless totally normal exp points in the game to around 10 or so. ***
PLEASE: No comments on my "cheating"/using a trainer/savegame editor just to say something like "Don't cheat!"
I am thankul, SO MUCH, for help- and useful hints and know-how concerning the structural dangers of using a savegame editor too often or anyhow in the wrong manner.
I want to understand how DL works and not be told I should not use trainers. For example, I trained my money so at the beginning, I wouldn't and didn't have problems with any too expensive an equipment piece. For me personally, the whole darn thing about the money is just good for rich people, so that they can make slaves out of of ourselves - we don't realize that running after the money is not even the source of evil, but only the wrong perspective in a senseful life - no matter wether in real life or in any game, money is money.
So why do I have that penalty with magic weaponry?
***: Maybe I GOT the solution or part of it myself: I let appear those skills like "identify" and "magic weapons" with the help of that savegame editor even before the game gave me those skills. Now: How can I (can I at all?) fix that problem without having to go back to the save which is timed before the receiving of the first or second mage title?
Because now, as said, the game displays a penalty below the title of the concerned item, but after equipping it, nothing's red like with normal penalties. Also my attributes remain untouched. For some big magic weapons I got penalties that are at 5 or 7 or even 9 an those values don't change no matter what I do. If I'm right I falsely used the save game editor, bohoo
