Casting restrictions due to armor

Eh, never got into the paladins. Besides, mages make more impressive fighters than any type of fighter could... so could a bard... or a thief and... yeah.

I find the class somewhat bland and limited. Carsomyr doesn't wow me too much, even the upgraded version as I use Staff of the Magi and Staff of the Ram +6 on hand. And the stats, nothing special. My thief can do better... not to mention backstab. XD

As for the spells thing, that's why you're a mage, use the to protect yourself. Mages here are good at offense AND defense and unlike in v3.5 rules, they can only wear robes so if you want armor, you have to dual class or have a multiclass mage.
