Tips/Suggestions needed
Hi guys and DW.
Well we're progressing nicely.
Just about leveled up(... I level up first, then really start playing) and allocated my attribute points wisely.
Next we start questing quickly + "nose poking into each cave/tomb" etc...
Would like some advice and tips
Playing as a Thief/Scout ... using Bow + Spear
1) Are all "Spears" considered equal in reach ?
Seems the Glass Halbred has more reach than my previous Silver Spear ...maybe it's my imagination
Can I get by with that weapon + absorb health(?) or should I upgrade as a find an Ebony/Daedric Spear ... last game I needed 30pts of absorb health on my Wakazshi just to beat some of the big baddies
I'm trying not to cheese this character too much.
2) Security ?
Well, we bungled this one early ... did not use it enough and ran into a 75 lock
Now we have to buy it
Doing the Thieves quests.
What level of Security + Master picks/probes will be enough to open a 100pt lock.
3) Enchantments
We "Bound Longbow" to a ring ... nice
Saved me 24lbs.
I'm using "Light Armor"(... hooded outfit sold in the Suran Archery shop mod).
But, I will up my Medium Armor to accomodate the Bearclaw helm(... bleieve it was Medium).
Any useful enchanted items out there for my character ... looking for attribute enhancements(CE)
4)Now, what CE would be my best choice ... taking into account my character(...Dark Elf)/build(... agility + speed)/my physical limitations
Do I go all Agility = won't help vs spellcasting
Do I go al Speed = would help me attack faster with the spear/halbred ... might disrupt attacks + spells ?
Do I use both ... not sure how the game calculates points .. by that, I mean: "at a certain attribute level is the jump exponentially greater" ... thus better to load up on one attribute = am I making sense
5) Sneak
Since I can't Auto-Sneak, this skill is very tough for me ... toggle feature would have really helped
Is it required to do a thieves quest ?
If it would be of great help, what level should I aim for = I'm very clumsy using it, so I'd probably have to over level it, if I use it ... tough holding it down, since 2 hands on the mouse is required for me to not run into walls/fight effectively
6) Goodies
What level do I need to be so that caves etc start spawning better items.
Don't mind the tougher fights, but at least I'd like to find something I can use
Up till now it's been a few quests + 2 tombs ... lots of "nose poking" available
7) Adding Up Enchanted items
Ring of Surrounding + Amulet of Shadows ... if used together, will I become 100% invisible for 30sec
Sometimes I seem to be invisible when stealing ? ... sometimes I get caught
8) Staff
Just out of curiosity, do they hold big enchantment points ?
Since they are so low in physical damage, I'm trying to figure out their usefulness = maybe for my next character
If it matters, I have Witchgirl as a companion.
Thanks for the help.
Trying not to be too cheesy, but dying constantly is worse

No they are not they vary between 1.5 and 1.8 or so. get a daedric spear, it hold more enchantments.1) Are all "Spears" considered equal in reach ?
Seems the Glass Halbred has more reach than my previous Silver Spear ...maybe it's my imagination

I belive that about 60-75 should do plus full fatigue and high luck.2) Security ?
Well, we bungled this one early ... did not use it enough and ran into a 75 lock

Doing the Thieves quests.

Curiass of saviors hide best light aromour curiass and 60% resist magicka3) Enchantments

plus Bearclaw helm is heavy. ring og the winf 30 pts aglility CE there is some other stuff but get back to me.
Neither Will power or stength. 30 pts agility on ring of the wind, 20 on the left rist of randagulf, speed 200 pts on boots of blinding speed (light) just have a ce light 40+ points handy4)Now, what CE would be my best choice ... taking into account my character(...Dark Elf)/build(... agility + speed)/my physical limitations

No, never bother with it. use chameleon.5) Sneak
Since I can't Auto-Sneak, this skill is very tough for me ... toggle feature would have really helped

About 20+ I think. At that level demora start carrying daedric diakatanas so yeah.6) Goodies
What level do I need to be so that caves etc start spawning better items.

It can actually go to 110% and you still have to press sneak and then it will show if you're moving unseen7) Adding Up Enchanted items
Ring of Surrounding + Amulet of Shadows ... if used together, will I become 100% invisible for 30sec
Sometimes I seem to be invisible when stealing ? ... sometimes I get caught
how about 90 (yes 90) enchant points on an ebony staff. So 100pts fire damage for 4 seconds. yeah. like that.8) Staff
Just out of curiosity, do they hold big enchantment points ?
Since they are so low in physical damage, I'm trying to figure out their usefulness = maybe for my next character
I also recomend you get the spell of fortify attack and enchant weapons to fortify your attack for 2-3 seconds for as much as they can hold. also damage strength and weapons really quickly stops enemies, don't do it for a duration just a block.
Any other questions joe?
Ampasand - wow; thank you.
I see I bungled this build :-(
But, we're to far in to start over.
Never heard/found either of those rings("wind" and "randagulf") or that curiass ... guess we better internet search to see where they are
Ooops on the Bearclaw helm !
Fortify Attack ... Damage STR(... for 1sec ?) ... CE Light
Time to start spell shopping
More I think I'm "getting it", the more I see I'm clueless.
Yeah, on more questions = you have time to come over and show me the correct way to play this game(LOL)
Was ready to start questing/fighting etc, now we're back to "build"ing my character correctly ... "1 step forward; 2 steps back"

... luckily my game crashed after spell-hunting
Could not find the "Fortify Attack" spell.
I hit every Mage Guild, Temples and Cult I could find.
Must be a good spell, as many sell the same spells = nobody had Fortify Attack
You know off hand who sells it ... or if it might be a Temple/Cult I missed
Trying to get eveything "in order" for when I get my gems.
(...already had damage health and light)
Thanks.

Cheers. But sneak is good for pickpoeketing but normally you can geet way with killing the dude.

Here is they only way to get fortify attack. just put 25+ points for 2-3 seconds on a weapon

Ampasand - nice list !
Yep, I just taunt them = I sneak like a bull in a china shop
I wondered why I did not remember that spell.
I'll never find all those on my own ... maybe I'll copy the listing
I hate to kill all those NPC's
Searched this forum for Saviour's Hide ... the 60% Resist Magicka sounds familiar
I was unarmorered last game = so I could not use it
I believe I know where it is ... at least which side of the map
Will look tomorrow.
I'll have to pass on the Bearclaw Helm ... doesn't fit with my Thief build
No idea on the Ring of Wind = that means I never found it last game ... a real mystery, since I thought I hit evey hole on Vvardenfell(sp?)
Strained my neck/shoulder yesterday jump-skewering Netch's with my Halberd
I just ran around tonight looking for that spell = at least I killed a Dremora, who happened to have a Daerdric Spear ... darn thing weighs 42lbs
Hurting too much; have to call it quits.

1) Never got into spears that much, so I'm not sure.
2) About 60-75 with master picks will probably do you just fine for most locks, but the 100's may take a few tries.
3&4) Fists of Rangnulf (heavy armor) 20 agility and 20 strength CE.
Reda's Robe of Deeds, feather 50 pts, detect animal 25 pts CE.
Marar's Ring, CE resisit normal weapons 40%, fortify acrobatics 10, reflect 20%
Ring of Phynaster, CE resist magicka poison and shock 20%
Just to name a few.
5) Sneak definately makes things easier at times, especially when you can get a critical damage when clearing out a cave or shrine. If you are really having trouble raising it and dont want to see a trainer, use the amulet of shadows. Try changing the key to something in a better postion too.
6) To get better loot, get better luck At around 55-65 luck (I made my 2nd favorite attribute luck) youll definately see a difference in crates, more greater/grand soulgems, more alchemy gems, better potions, ext...
7) Even while chameleoned that much, you still need to hold the sneak key, not only to actually sneak, but to get exp.
8) I like using rings better, that way you dont have to switch off your main weapon. But yes, staffs can be pretty good if you dont mind the weak damage they give.

And the game provides rings that are much better than anything you could ever make yourself. And if you want to do masses of damage put fire damage on a ebony staff and do 100pts for 3-4 seconds
So where are these rings that fortify attributes higher than 40?AmpaSand wrote:It's not luck but level.

Thanks Guys !
Going to try a play a few hours tonight.
Will go over the "sanguine item" list.
Plus look at the "weapon/gear" listing; again
If I find the cuirass, guess we switch to Dark Brotherhood armor ... since a cuirass on a Robin Hood outfit would look weird
Too bad I can't CE my armor(LOL).
Used one ring for my CE Longbow.
I'll try and find ring of wind.
I like rings too.
Have to save some clothing for CE-STR !
FiresFriend - already have all my keys shifted right
But, I guess 5hrs of quick keying got to me ... evey time those netch fall in a swamp I can't loot them = so I had to basically loot them as they were fallling ... took a toll on my neck/shoulder
Thanks for the tips ... saved me a do-over
Hmmm ... on the staff
Guess if they hold enough points, I could add weakness to fire + big fire damage ... then nobody would be immune ? ... maybe even some points left over for absorb health
Love this game = only one I've ever played and caused myself more physical problems ... I'm either addicted or nuts
Another observation ..............>
Last game I over leveled and Winged Twilights/Golden Saints were all over the Grazelands.
Plus, it seemed multiple 70+ spells were needed to kill most enemies.
Now, I'm about 15 and it takes two silver arrows/Daedric bow.
So, am I to assume the game leveles up the enemies too by giving them more hit points ... I know the weapons get better
Is this why most just keep questing ?
I like to explore = so I seem to over level before questing
Yes, some battles are easier, but some become really difficult.
This game, I'm trying to max out my weapons Spear/Bow.
Then all my killing won't level me up ... until I use my magic, which I using sparingly now, as to not over level
BTW, spear is great ... since I can only go forward/backward in a fight
Love the reach.
Thought of another question.
Has anyone ever tried to use their bow to nullify spellcasters ... by shooting their spells in mid-flight...they run out of magicka ... then melee them
Just a thought ?
