new cheese from user...stacked hardiness and balderdash

Post by UserUnfriendly »

as you know, you SHOULD be playing with the balderdash fix pack...

its really a good patch, and it fixes many many bugs....

now those of you who are familiar with the patch know you can no longer stack hardiness multiple times by recasting, which is ok, since thats a bit of silly ness..spells should not stack on themselves...

so cleric spell armor of faith and hardiness makes jahiera really a good npc to have...

but hardiness cast by wish spell does still stack!!!

i was fooling around with wish spell, and bun bun version 5, and it stacks....and even stacks with character cast hardiness....

got up to 120 resist to damage...

though, if you cast hardiness and polymorph to rat, it might be better, via cloak of sewers...

giggle... :D
They call me Darth...

Here. :D
That's the home of the WeiDU version - it's just like the original fixpack, but it's easier to install. :)
Be sure to read the instructions. They're in the README file.

Hardiness is a silly skill to get, you could have had another greater whirlwind. When enemies die from 10 attacks in a round, they arent around to hurt you so 40% damage resistance doesnt matter.

40% is ok, 120 % will actually heal you when you are hit! Prety slick....

@User, I'm shaking my head at you, I give up, you ARE hopeless.

And for my own bit of cheese, false dawn isn't regarded as an offensive spell, and can be cast without dispelling Sanctuary. I haven't tried it with sunray, but I suspect it will still work.
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

I guess it's a matter of playing style, but i ought to disagree.
If you have a Sorcerer/Wizard that can Improved Haste each of your dual-wielders, GWW is totally redundant. Why?
Most people like to dual-wield, and rightfully so. It's cooler, and much more powerful. IMO, of course.
Without the Grandmastery patch, and without a +1 attack weapon equipped (belm, kudane), any dual-wielding fighter will have 4 attacks/round. With either of them, he'll have 4.5 or 5 ApR.
Now, Improved Haste him, and you get 8 (or 9, or 10, depends on what you are using). That's only 2 attacks less then GWW...
BUT! It'll last, with a high level mage, 22 rounds more!! The battle will be probably finished by then...
AND! Now that there's no need to pick GWW... We can take other abilities! Take 2 or 3 Hardiness, for boss fights, which WILL hit you, and hit you hard...
Put the rest in Critical Strike. I know, CS sounds lame... But with Improved Haste, you'll score 8 criticals per round! That's alot of damage... Even if the enemy is wearing a helmet, Critical Strike will still make sure you hit him! :)
For non dual-wielders, GWW is still important, though.

alson, its slightly different with bun bun...

sure i dual wield most of the time, but bun bun is set to take advantage of holy avenger...50 % resist to magic, and you uneqipp and re equipp robe of vecna, amulet of power, and ring of gaxx...

with watchers keep and hell and davids bhaal powers i get 100% resist to magic by end of game!!!!

but, this time around will try purifier, upgraded, and with cloak of baldy, should still get 100% or more magic resist...

better than a monk..

but sanchu makes you invulnerable to most magic anyway...

Even without Improved Haste... Once you have over half a dozen Greater Whirlwind Attacks, why not add in a Hardiness? You can use both at the same time in the big fights (you know, the ones that actually warrant the use of Whirlwinds). If you can't take something down with six Whirlwinds, you probably won't take it down with seven either. Best get some protection instead.

Well said!
But the advantage of IH is that it can be combined with CS... And, it last much longer, of course.

PS, and off-topic:
@Xyx - is there a section in your guide about HLAs?

The WeiDU Baldurdash "Fix"pack includes all sorts of nasty cheats and hacks as well, not just the fixes. Don't install it if you like your game hardcore.

Never got around to it... If anyone is up for it, you're free to take the job. ;)
