Heh, heh, you forgot to deliver those 5 exquisite shirts that Argonian in the West Gash gave you.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Are you the one? You've given the oath by Zenithar - without a knife at your throat, i believe.
BTW, i've heard about anothere one in the game (with another set of items and definitely not reptile). Never encountered a problem myself, though, always have kept the word given :D

I think you are referring to the thief you meet along the road near Ald Ruhn who asks you to deliver a pile of weapons to an orc in one of the inns bac in Ald Ruhn. If you take to long an assassin/thief will come looking for you and attack. Not sure if you have to be a member of the thieves guild to get this side quest but I believe you do.

I have a confesion to make.....I'm the second gunman on the grassy knoll.

No but seriously, those Argonians are wicked untrustworthy. They just dont look like a person you should do jobs for or trust with your wife and kids...you know what i mean?

Use the console to get them back. You'll have to find one with a script on them. I don't think you can deliver any old expensive shirt.
