Is it possible to edit familiars?
Is it possible to edit familiars?
I would like to make my cat a bit more efficient as a thief. I would like better find/disarm trap skills. Can it be done? Or is it possible to edit the bard so that he can find disarm traps and open locks?
You can't handle the truth!
You can edit the familiar; it's really easy with Shadow Keeper, just load a savegame where you have a familiar and select Edit Out of Party Charaters... from the Tools menu. Then scroll to the right end and edit your familiar, it's the same as editing your character.
I don't think it is possible to give a Bard the other Thief skills.

I used the potion-scroll bug to cast find familiar with my monk and then I editet my pseudo dragon:
He now is the size of a wyvern (the big one) and if a place gets too small for him I take him to my backpack (handy, don´t you think
) I raised his Str Dex and Con to 18 (well duh he´s a dragon) and gave him 120 hit points. His Base AC is -2 and his THAC0 is 0. His attack was modified to do Battle Axe +1 damage and I gave him 20 to magic, cold, lightning and magic cold resistances. He also has 100% in find traps, hide in shadows and pick locks (I no longer lack a thief). His class is now a thief mage. He can cast 3 magic missile, 2 stone skins, 2 cone of cold and 1 blur per day. I tried to name him Saros but it wasn´t possible.
Do you think that he is owerpowered?

Well, assuming the familiar belongs to a godchild that slayed half of the Sword Coast with only five companions and killed a couple of dragons, I would say no. But if you were a lvl.1 mage with 4-5 spells and no other weapon than a quarterstaff, yes... depends!

If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

If you really wanna get creative, TEAMBG has a tutorial on talking items. I can only imagine that they're refering to Familiar-like items. So if you would possibly wanna make another Familiar check that out.

I edited my familiar. My fairy dragon was a mage/thief that looked like Ellsime. I edited it when i was in Suldenessalar and it was going ok, no crashes or anything like that. Hehe it was like having a seventh party member.
When i beat Irenicus, i moved into TOB and the familiar reverted to its original state BUT in shadow keeper it still has the changed stats and everything else i changed.
I tried re-saving it but nothing happened.
Any ideas on what i can do?

You know what I think? There are different files for familiars when you check the creature browser. I don´t know how could you fix the problem. You used the "edit out of party members"-thing right? If you did I don´t know how you could solve this problem...I´m just at the beginning so I´m still fine with my lil´ drake (his now a mid-sized wyvern, the big one always did over 1000 damage...weird). The normal familiars are improved when you go to ToB so this problem might never be solved...I think that re-editing SHOULD work cos´ the out of party member file should be different as well cos´ there are ToB and SoA files for familiars and both have their own discription...
