I agree with most of KA's suggestions, except for Mercantile. I figure somebody who's in the wilderness most of the time has no use - or talent - for Personality related skills.
Some other skills that IMHO will suit a self-reliant woodsman: Restoration, Illusion (will complement your sneaking very nicely, also: Night-eye, Light, Charm/Frenzy) or Alteration (Water walking and breathing, Levitate, Swift swim, Slowfall, Jump).
Mysticism would probably not be a good choice for a hunter, however, it does have the spell Detect (which is, admittedly, near useless, but it would suit a hunter, roleplaying-wise  :) )

Maybe change Mercantile for Short Blades. After all, I've never, ever, heard of anyone go out into the wilderness without a knife.

hunters deal with merchents more then anyone because they're the ones the trade the most raw goods.

This is a great premise. A crazy person living in the woods and coming into town once a month to rade pelts for gear. Just great. But I would make the race Nord.

Or you could go for the Kahjiit, plenty of succesfull feline predator/hunters in the real world, and Hircine is also mostly beast.
Another good race may be Bosmer, their background/skills serve nicely for a hunter.

There's also a transform mod on area summit, but I don't remember if changing to bear/wolf was possible.

I agree with KA, keep merchantile because most trader or people that you barter with only like you like 41/100. So if you don't have merchantile and say you sell someone raw ebony (worth 200 drakes) and you don't have merchantile as one of your prim. or sec. attributes, the person you barter with will probably only give you around 80 for the raw ebony. So stay with merchantile.

Isn't the Mercantile skill bugged or something.

Yes, it has never been fixed either. Apparently, as your ability to get cheaper prices for items increases, merchants will also begin to reduce the amount of money they give you, upon your selling them something

IMO, it is better to have a high Speechcraft and just boost the disposition of merchants up to 100 using "Admire."

I don't know if the results are quite the same, but it is preferable to a bugged "Mercantile" skill.

Or... just don't bother at all... It's not as though obtaining cash is tough in this game.

Hand to hand; fighting with your bare hands. There's advantages and disadvantages. The main problem is you have to stun your opponent first (punching him so hard that he falls down) and only then can you hurt his health. It's not the worst skill in creation but not the best either. If you want to have another combat skill you'll probably have more use for Short blades, which you can use in conjunction with Sneak for critical strikes (sneaking up on your opponent, then stab him, it'll do a lot of damage if successful).
But, I think you'll benefit more from some magic skill.

Im actually goin with a character like this. To fit the role though, i go with unarmored and wear the gandoleers(sp?) hat. It looks sweet IMO. Although, eventually i might wear the ebomy mail as my only piece.
