Although BioShock isn't a true RPG, you're able to customize your character in a surprising number of ways. To start with there are your Plasmids, many of which can be obtained through conveniently placed vending machines. Plasmids come in different types and are grouped into four distinct categories: physical, active, engineering and weapons. Your character can equip up to six plasmids in each category and effects can be combined. Most of the plasmids you'll pick up offer passive buffs, though the "power" plasmids bestow your character with actual magic-like abilities. There are 80 different plasmids in all. Some of the "power" plasmids include: telekinesis, incinerate (a localized fiery blast), pyrokinesis (a fireball), security beacon ("tags" enemies for attack by the city's security robots), cryokinetic touch (a freezing touch) and electrovolt (a lightning-based attack).
And the other is at Games Radar:
Later, you'll encounter a female Splicer, hunched and crooning over a baby carriage. The strange scene, cast in shadow, gives you goose bumps. But when the Splicer wheels around and launches herself wildly at your face, shrieking an array of foul, unprintable words, the scene might give you a seizure.
You kill that particular creature with a wrench to her head, but the possibilities for combat are many. And although the "baby" in the carriage does end up being a handgun (seriously), traditional firearms are less important than the genetic weaponry you can equip into your DNA. Discover the Incinerate plasmid injection and you can instantly ignite an enemy from across the room. With the Electro Bolt plasmid, you can fry them with bolts of electricity and, with Telekinesis, you can throw harmful objects at them using only your mind.
