Mass Effect 2 Arrival DLC Reviews

Just in case you're still contemplating a purchase of the add-on, you should know that another fistful of reviews for BioWare's final Mass Effect 2 DLC has reached the 'net.

Loot Ninja gives it a 4/5:
So should you buy the Arrival? Absolutely. I consider myself a hardcore Mass Effect fan (recently converted) and I simply can't get enough of the world, characters, and missions with my personalized Commander Shephard. There are a few cool moments in the Arrival, like taking control of a mech droid, but the story leaves you at the same point you had when you finished the campaign wanting more. The story is definitely unique but it leaves you depressed because you can't play more after it's over with. Mass Effect 3 can't get here soon enough. If you're a die hard Mass Effect fan like me, definitely pick up the Arrival DLC.

G4 doesn't score it:
It's clear that Bioware simply wanted to provide a narrated set up for the third game. Unfortunately, charging seven dollars for the privilege of about two hours of added action and little else seems like a high price. Mass Effect fans will still find something to like in just being able to spend a couple more hours in this compelling universe, but Arrival is definitely one of the weakest add-ons for the game.

GameShark gives it a "B+":
It's apt to call the central decision you make and the way in which the rug is pulled out from under you - as (frustrating, in the best possible way) in the way that sometimes, even your best intentioned decisions aren't possible to implement, after all. The aftermath has huge implications for Shepard's future and the set up of Mass Effect 3. It's not as consistently awesome as Shadow Broker, but that's ok The Arrival more than does its part in setting the stage for a killer third installment of the series. We'll just have to wait for the fall to see how Bioware plans to fill everyone else in.

Al.com gives it an "A":
Arrival is a great add-on that doesn't quite top the length or complexity of say, Overlord, but it makes up for any shortcomings with sheer character. If you plan on playing Mass Effect 3, play Arrival.

And Saving Content goes scoreless:
While Arrival is not the most fun DLC, if you go into Mass Effect 2 without it, you will not know what is going on. For that, I recommend it, but don't expect anything mind-blowing.
