I suspect our earlier report about a gamer pre-ordering a Mass Effect 3 "From Dust" DLC was partially correct, as the eagle-eyed folks at Game Informer have picked up on an Xbox.com listing for a "From Ashes" DLC that they turned around and quizzed BioWare producer Michael Gamble about. Apparently, the day one add-on (which will be needed to recruit the Prothean squad member) will be free to anyone who purchases the Collector's Edition or $10 to everyone else:

Unearth lost secrets from the past and recruit the Prothean squad member in Mass Effect 3: From Ashes.

We're happy to confirm that Mass Effect 3: From Ashes DLC will be available at launch for all platforms. For those of you who have purchased the N7 Collector's Edition (including the PC Digital Deluxe Edition), you will get this content at no extra charge.

$10 extra for what will likely be the most intriguing squad member in the game? Gotta love it.
