Heroes of Ruin Reviews

While there's no shortage of loot-driven action-RPG for the PC platform, especially now that Diablo III has been released and other titles such as Grim Dawn, Torchlight II and Path of Exile are going to come out in the near future, some of our readers might be interested into grabbing a similarly styled game for a handheld platform such as the Nintendo 3DS, in which case they're probably going to want to read these reviews we've rounded up for Heroes of Ruin.

Gamers Heroes, 8/10.
A 3DS game that has loot, tons of content, a story and a significant multiplayer mode with online chat. If you would have told me all of those things would have been available 6 months ago I would have thought you were crazy. The game is not perfect but the character types and multiplayer more than make up for it. This is a must buy for me.

MTV Multiplayer, scoreless.
Outside of the limited inventory, there aren't too many downsides for Heroes of Ruin. Attention to detail and some snazzy bells and whistles (daily mission downloads via SpotPass, StreetPass item trading, and an online stat-sharing site) all set Heroes of Ruin apart from the competition. Sure, the story and character design may come off as a bit generic, but that shouldn't keep you from enjoying the well-executed single or multiplayer combat on the battlefield. n-Space have done a great job of crafting an enjoyable game, both online and off, that should appeal to anyone that has ever chosen playing Diablo over going out into their world and living their life - now you can do both.

Stuff, 6/10.
Heroes of Ruin would like to be the 3DS' Diablo, the 3DS' Gauntlet, the 3DS' Hunter: The Reckoning. Unfortunately, n-Space fails to endow the game with challenging gameplay or engrossing storytelling, apparently hoping that the solid multiplayer will draw audiences. In a marketplace where there's nothing new under the sun, we need a more interesting hook than that.
