Here on the official forums you can find an explanation of the open beta launch, while you can keep updated on the current status here. It's also worth noticing that the the final character wipe coincides with this launch, so be prepared to start from level 1 again.
Finally, with the launch of the open beta also comes the so-far unreleased act 3 of the game, which contains more locations with, hopefully, plenty of critters and loot to gain.
