Infinity Blade Dungeons, Epic Games' spin-off to the wildly successful Infinity Blade series, is officially canceled, according to Donald Mustard, the co-founder and creative director of creator Chair Entertainment.
Mustard spoke about Dungeons' fate during the latest episode of the Epic Games podcast, saying, "It was a concept that originated with Epic and was an idea that we were happy to support. But when the studio working on it was closed, the game was canceled."
The studio responsible for Infinity Blade Dungeons' development was Maryland-based Impossible Games, which closed in February. When that studio was shuttered, Epic's Tim Sweeney said Dungeons was being put "on hold as we figure out the future of the project."
Infinity Blade Dungeons was announced in early 2012 as an isometric hack-and-slash dungeon crawler for iOS and later planned for a 2013 release.
