Website Entertainment Buddha has published a hands-on preview of The Technomancer, Spiders' upcoming sci-fi action-RPG, based on some hands-on time spent at E3. We want have to wait long to try the full version of the game, as it's coming out next week. Here's an excerpt that should be familiar to anyone who's played another Spiders' title set in the same universe, Mars: War Logs:
Water is Serum, and everything revolves around Serum as a currency. Everyone is so desperate for water that they have started draining bodies (animal and human) of their water content, effectively sapping their life force and killing them. No one really dies at the end of encounters in The Technomancer – violence generally ends once you or your enemies get knocked unconscious. In addition to looting enemies, players have the option of removing the water content from their bodies for more Serum. Killing someone in this manner is often frowned upon by people who resemble a law-abiding personality. Companions and factions alike will judge you to the smallest detail, even in how you tend to the unconscious (or soon-to-be lifeless) bodies from each fight. Kill too many for serum and you may find yourself walking the path of a lone wolf, but that might just be exactly what you’re trying to do.
