Lyndrek: Will those people who do not wish to start with a family have that option? And could you describe the family system in greater detail?
Requnix: Yes, we currently have plans for those who want to be orphans (and on their own) to start as such. The family system is very cool - your siblings will be other players, and you will have a bond with those players. However just like normal families, this allows for the 'crazy' family members, or even those who are kicked out. At the same time, it allows family members to fight for each other. If Tom is killed by an Orc in cold blood, Tom's entire family now has the ability to hunt down and kill that Orc in retribution. There's other perks, but I'll save that for BETA. :)
But there's more! The Horizon's Vault has a copy of the Dev. Journal by Artifact Entertainment's Director of World Design turned Producer, Scott "Skarz" Blinn detailing the current buzz around the offices there. Here's a chop from it:
We have been VERY busy on Horizons and a lot of exciting things have been going on behind the scenes. Hopefully we can start to fill you all in on the stuff soon (some of it at least). The more astute of the bunch may have noticed that my title has changed from "Director of World Design" to "Producer". Rest assured this is a great change for the project and is allowing me to use my past experience in game development to make sure the entire Horizons projects is going smoothly. We have already hired one Senior World Developer to help take my old position, and we hope to hire the other shortly. I'll be sure to make announcements on who those two people are in the near future.
Finally, a plug for GameBanshee's Horizons' Pavilion. You'll find tons of tasty info on the game right here that you probably didn't know was right under your fingertips. See it to believe it.
