NOTICE OF INTENT TO FILE A LAW SUIT AGAINST SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT, VERANT INTERACTIVE AND OTHERS
Both Sony and Verant have caused several auction sites to close down access to those who wish to profit from time spent playing their game. They believe that the untried EULA gives them this right. We believe that it does not. We wish to have this tested in the US Courts.
Therefore this suit will seek unspecified damages and will seek to enjoin Sony Computer Entertainment, Verant Interactive and others from interfering with these activities in the future.
This isn't just a small law suit, but a large-scale one that has caught the attention of a lot of people. It stands to change a lot of games, not just EverQuest, if the ruling is in the players' favor.
Personally, I would never sell a character or equipment on EBay, but I understand where the people who do are coming from. Even though there is a legal agreement that you have to click "I Agree" on upon loading the game, what right does a company have to tell you that you can't sell something that you have invested time and money in? It's definitely worthy of debate, so if you're interested in sharing your opinion, head on over to the official website for the law suit by clicking here.
