Secondly, GameSpy has posted up a dev diary from three members of the Black Isle team working on TORN, including Scott Warner, Chad Nicholas, and Brian Mitsoda. Here's an excerpt:
Some programmers write code to make the graphics pretty. Some write code to make the objects in the game bounce off each other in a realistic manner. Scripters make a creature laugh at you as it summons a horde of Things-That-Should-Not-Be-Named and commands them to eat you alive. That, and we make puppies bark when they're happy. In my opinion, it's the most fun you can have in game development.
