VooDoo Extreme -- The quest system in DAOC sounds very ambitious. Tell us about it.
I don't do it justice when I talk about it - our quest team is very passionate on the subject, but I'll try not to embarrass them. There are actually several different sorts of quests. There are "task" quests, which you get by running up to NPCs and saying "help" to them. There's a good chance they will have an errand for you to run, or notes to deliver. This sort of quest is meant for soloists, people needing a break from hunting, or what have you. While they are simple, one step tasks, you can get a fair amount of experience and cash each level by doing a bunch of them. There are "item" quests, the kind of thing where the NPC tells you "bring me three ant legs and I'm make you an ant leg hat." These result in armor you don't have to buy (and in our cash poor economy, that's a good thing). Item quests are only given to you if you are of the appropriate level to use the reward - which is a good thing, as loot does not drop from monsters that are "gray" - i.e. no experience - to you.
