Steve Meister, Programmer: Scourge, my Argonian Spellsword character, prefers claymores. Besides their exceptional power, it's cool seeing him wielding a 6-foot-long blade. Add a nice cast-when-strikes elemental damage enchantment, and you've got some major firepower at your disposal.
