Morrowind is, undoubtedly, one of the most dauntingly-large RPGs ever released. There are thousands of different zones, and each can take a minute to run from one end to the other. Each zone also seems to be quite full, with towns, lairs, dungeons, enemy camps, and other various things to occupy your time while you play. In addition to the awe-inspiring scope of the game is an absolutely incredible graphics engine. The creatures and NPCs that you interact with are quite lifelike, the sky is very beautiful, and the landscape is gorgeous. In fact the sky is more than just gorgeous; it is wondrous. You can watch the transition from day to night, when the weather is stormy there is lightning, and the fog is even quite well-done. The landscape looks good enough to be a perfect match for the sky as well. Above all, it is just fun to play--at first. And that is the problem; Morrowind has a lot going for it in the technical department, yet it lacks where it counts: gameplay.
