Role-playing in general is also much better. In Neverwinter Nights you hardly any development of your own character or his past, unlike Baldur's Gate where the game was centered a lot around your created character. In Shadows of Undrentide your character has moments where he can talk of his past and his relationship with others, which is another plus. Decision making is more critical on your alignment this time around. Your actions have affects on your good vs. evil scale as well as your chaotic vs. lawful scale. Many of the quests can also be completed without drawing steel. You can smooth talk your way through many of them. The success of this depends on your charisma as well as your persuade skill.
Overall Shadows of Undrentide is a much more solid experience than Neverwinter Nights in terms of single player. It would have definitely scored higher if there were more improvements in production values.
