Your player follows the left mouse cursor on the screen when held, like Diablo, and bashing the left button also causes your character to attack. Right mouse button uses the currently active special move. The animation to these special moves is executed with aplomb, and occasionally you will lop the head or arm of an enemy off, causing blood to spray out. If one of your multi-hit moves kills an enemy before the skill finishes, it will continue on another enemy, providing one is near enough. This combo system also means you can pay a vendor to allow you to construct your own combo by combining four skills. My Seraphim combined four three-hit attacks into a twelve-hit monster attack, which, with some careful positioning from myself, caused her to accurately flail around with her sword, slashing left, right, up and around while back flipping and bending all over the place, her shadow flickering in the torchlight. No one is pretending the gameplay is incredibly deep on the strength of this combo system, as potions and many other familiar RPG devices remain, such as frantic potion quaffing and the ability to hire sidekicks, but its still one above the attempts of other games. The ability to buy horses, ride around and fight on horseback us a nice little addition.
